Every time I open a page or click on a link, I see the next thing I want to click on and just as I am about to click, an advert appears at the top and shunts the rest of the page downwards so I end up clicking on something completely different as my mouse has now lined up with something else.

This is extremely..

...annoying.

I assume there is some sort of 'placeholder' that appears whilst the ad is loading. Can the 'placeholder' be the same size as the ad that will appear then there will be no need for the screen to resize later.

Sorry if I'm not up on all the techy jargon and hope this makes sense to someone. Thank you very

much.

Agree. Very annoying. Doesn't just happen on here though - numerous websites do the same. My "back" button is almost worn out!

Example. The ad between My Profile My Preferences My Mates and my original message above starts off as a small box and then expands to become the full add a few seconds later after the rest of the screen has appeared.

There are ads on here? When did that start?

Allegedly Chrome has anti-page jumps - https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/software/goo...

So you might want to try it out (and then install uBlock origin).

I was looking for a Mini for the Mrs in the classifieds, the poxy Mini centre banner kept bouncing the screen up and down so much that it was impossible to use the page, so I gave up.

Question for pistonheads staff: what is the point of this nonsense if I can't look to buy a car?

It seems to vary by page
I just saw the website feedback page come up, then as I was about to click a thread, it redrew to allow for the advert placeholder. I don't know what ad it placed as I came here first smile

ETA
It might be that the top level General Gassing doesnt have a placeholder for the second advert, so when you first go to website feedback forum it keeps that style, then realises it should have the second place so redraws

Ooh just noticed it happen when clicking on the main PistonHeads top left button. It resized and came up with that CarIconics ad.

Ps. you may want to add PistonHeads to your dictionary so it doesn't underline in red.

Still much better than before though. Thanks.

Hi all,

The tech team have solved the page jumping on the forums, but on the home page/classifieds there are many different sized ads and currently there is no fix for it unfortunately.

Thanks!

Thanks very much. Definitely an improvement on before.
