Extended test drive
Discussion
Hi All,
I've got a bit of change haning around and fancied a new steed, got caught on a couple of occasions buying the wrong cars and wanted to be sure this time.
Does anyone have an idea of which companies will allow you an extended test drive?
I'm not a messer, I've bought a New Aston Martin this year and a new range rover both of which were happy to oblig, just want to be sure
thanks
Andy

Try Porsche - last extended test drive from them was a lap of Hyde Park - oh and would Sir mind returning via West Carriage Drive not Kensington Church St......
.
Having said that you've given yourself quite an interesting brief: any supercar but only if I get an extended test drive !
I'm guessing a little more interest than just (loadsa)money burning a hole in your pocket might be required

You may get lucky, but extended test drives are more commonly offered when you have "built a relationship" with a particular dealer. Either through routine servicing or buying off them in the past.
Hrowen have been very helpful, with Bentley GTC Speed and Maserati Grandcabrio, probably because I bought the new Aston Martin and a quattropote from them a couple of years ago, so I think you maybe right, but thought it may be worth checking anywayAlfa Romeo group are so far non-responsive regarding the Quadrifoglio - which is kinda strange after purchasing 4 Fiat 500s from them and 2 Jeep Wranglers in the last 4 years.....
I'm not sure what you call extended.
When I bought my CS from Dick Lovett, they allowed me to drive a good 30 min and I did 2 test drives on 2 cars on two occasions of about 40km each before I bought. There was no hurry up given and I got as much time as I needed to make up my mind. It was the first time I bought from them but I had quite a lot of discussion and service history requests going back and forth before I went to see the cars.
In a mileage sensitive environment (the car I bought had 10k miles) and where they are being put under pressure by their clients to not even put a mile when cars go in for service (!), I thought they were very good in letting me drive and make up my mind ... and that led to a sale. I would not have bought otherwise. I would think that SOR cars may be harder to get extended drives in based on mileage sensitivity.

To fully appreciate a car properly an hours test drive is simply not enough IMHO.
I drove several 12C's on numerous occasions before I "got it" and appreciated what an accomplished car it was.
Yes you can jump in say a Lambo or Ferrari and the initial experience of driving a new car with the looks and sound is great but once that novelty element has worn off you can be left thinking what was all my excitement about.
The McLaren is a grower and does not reveal all its talent on the first date.
Lets just say some girls you would not take home to meet your mother but can be fun for a short while whilst others you should marry
