thanks for the reply ignore what the advert says i rang them up and they told me it should be diesel im more concerned about the gearbox rather than the mileage truth be told.
Are you looking for a petrol Golf or a diesel Golf? Any Golf GTi is petrol, a mk5 GT TDI or mk6/mk7 GTD is diesel and that advert is for a mk5 GTi i.e. a petrol car.If you're after a diesel buy a mk5 GT TDI or a mk6/mk7 GTD, a Golf GTi has never and will hopefully never be a diesel and maybe you should change your user name as well.

Maybe a manual is the safer bet for you then. Or if you want DSG, get an extended warranty that covers the gearbox.....although saying that, I think only a VW extended warranty would cover the gearbox internals/Mechatronics.That looks like it's out the batch that got imported from Dubai or somewhere in 2007, they're all matching spec and the sunroof is usually the giveaway. Doesn't really have any impact now given the age but they would have originally been built in 2005 then sat for a couple of years before been registered over here. Misses some of the 2007 spec enhancements e.g. the newer radio with silver buttons, and it won't have an alarm like UK GTIs so you'll need to tell your insurers.
