Guys,

What's a ballpark insurance figure for a '62 MGB roadster (uk car, matching numbers, original 3 bearing engine, all factory extras fitted. Fully documented rebuild ('88 - '90). National MGB concours winner 1990. Only a few thousand miles since - been off the road since around '97, but stored in a heated garage.

Current condition is "excellent", but not "concours". Straight, no rust.

Thanks.

For insurance purposes try Hagerty's tool

Thanks - I wonder how those figures reflect real-world values? Are they obtained from completed auctions?

No idea but I think somewhere they do say how they work them out. But it is insurance value not necessarily what you would achieve if you sold. I suppose the answer is to go with Hagerty and they would presumably use their own data.
They're not the cheapest but the test of an insurance company is how they handle a claim. A friend of mine claimed through them and they were great, allowing him to choose the repairer and not quibbling on a substantial bill.
I expect others are as good but he's the only person who I know has claimed on a classic policy.
