What is the definition of stop in the following bit of the highway code?

You MUST NOT stop or park on
the carriageway or the hard shoulder of a motorway except in an emergency (see Rule 270)
a pedestrian crossing, including the area marked by the zig-zag lines (see Rule 191)

I don't have a current Highway Code handy but there is a chance this might have been updated to You MUST NOT park on a crossing or in the area covered by the zig-zag lines.

There is a bus stop near me that is basically on a pedestrian crossing and I was wondering if the buses were allowed to stop, and also if cars are allowed to overtake the stopped bus.

Thank you I thought I had seen something on here before, read through the numerous topics that came up on Google but didn't see that one.
