Scaffolding left on my property
Discussion
I believe you're not allowed to touch it yourself & only a competent scaffolder is allowed to erect/dismantle/adjust. Call your local HSE office & tell them it looks dangerous - they love this kind of st.

They won't care, they MIGHT just send out someone to have a look, but after that - then what? They shrug and says it looks fine, no change.https://www.gov.uk/scaffolding-rules
Local HSE teams are these days only for when something goes wrong, they don't go round proactively looking & checking on builders...
Call handyman, explains situation, offer large cash payment to dismantle it. Job done.

I wouldn't bet on that one - I know someone who got 'grassed up' by a disgruntled former employee. Only a very minor infringement was discovered on a building site, & the employers had to cough up £500 for the privilege of the HSE inspectors visit....Biker 1 said:

I think this is another case of gov.uk being over-simplified. I'd be amazed if the laws applied to people not working professionally, ie. you could legally rent/buy in scaffolding and erect it yourself so long as no workers use it. Likewise you could remove scaffolding erected professionally yourself.https://www.gov.uk/scaffolding-rules

Also that document says 'put up' doesn't say take down, although its not something I would want to try as its physically very demanding and I work in construction if its one small lift then maybe.I am surprised know one spotted the name when they put it up? Have they no ladder gates or tags with names on at all as that's odd these days.
Maybe the roofers own scaffolding put up against HSE regs.

Thanks for the replies so far
I have since found out that bloke is not a proper builder, he is claiming benefits whilst working. I've spoken with him and he refuses to provide the details of the company (or bloke, probably) who put the scaffolding up
I want to do this by book, so will be sending him a letter via recorded delivery, stating if it's not removed within 7 days I will have it dismantled and stored off-site at cost.
