There's 2 cars parked on my road.

Neither have insurance. One has Tax, No MOT. The other has MOT but no Tax.

Can I get them towed away? Who do I report it too? SW London, so would be MET area.

If you google reporting untaxed/uninsured cars, there will be a gov.uk result that will give you a link.

Saw that. Is there something similar for cars without MOT?

It would be quite nice if the man who's left his car without tax and insurance on the road got a knock on the door as this is the 3rd time he has just dumped a car when he got a new one.

Is the a public road?

I presume you used to askMID own vehicle insurance check? Even if it says they do not have insurance, they may still do as they may be under a trader policy or similar.

No offence of parking a car on the road without MOT. Only an offence to drive without MOT.

With regards to tax, you can report this online to DVLA if you wish at https://forms.dft.gov.uk/report-an-untaxed-vehicle...

Are you sure about that ?

It is an offence to use a vehicle on a road without an MOT - and there's plenty of precedent which confirms that 'use' includes times when a vehicle is parked and unattended.

Even so you can't seize a car for not MOT. It's a non endorsable FPN to the driver. The Police will not come out to this and only deal with no MOT if the car is driven with no MOT.

Best bet for the OP is to report them as abandoned to the council. Most councils will only take on abandoned cars if the tax has been gone for a while. With regards to the car with tax but no MOT. Just wait until the tax runs out and report as abandoned.

They won't be seized by Police for no insurance as like I mentioned above, they may be on a trade policy or similar.

The cars are in marked parking bays that don't have any restrictions on a public road. Yes, I naughtily used AskMID to check.

Car 1 has tax until November 2017 but MOT expired in March.
Car 2's tax expired on 1 July 2017 and MOT until 10 December 2017.

Both have been parked up for a few months.

Yes all you can really do is report the one without tax to DVLA and to council as abandoned. From experience down south, councils don't really care unless car has no tax for some time and looks in a state.

I used to work for Leeds city council and often dealt with issues of cars with no tax. if a car has been abandoned with no tax and it has expired by over a month. the local council can have the car removed. Give the local council a call and report as abandoned and they should sort it. was easier when we had physical tax discs to check but its easy enough to do on the dvla website.

Are they causing you a problem? If not, I'd probably mind my own business tbh.

Phoned the council, they said they would be happy to tow it but need to give it a little bit longer until it's 1 month 1 day past expired.

Having been hit by an uninsured driver in the past, I'd have been quite happy if someone hadn't minded their own business and reported the beforehand.

There was one that parked on my road last week in a really bad spot, missing window, no tax mot or insurance. Reported online to council as abandoned and DVLA as untaxed. Council had slapped a sticker on it the next day, and a few days later it had been DVLA clamped... I wonder who will tow it first?

And you MIGHT see a DVLA van around next year. I'd use 101 .
Forget those who say "stop being a busybody"- IF more folk reported this sort of car, then those who chance it might get the message, that if ANPR don't get them, then upset legal MOP might report them.
Personally, I'd like to see local forces getting the proceeds of fines for no Tax/MOT/INSURANCE and proceeds from sale of decent seized vehicles to run a department to get this menace off our roads.

Right oh. I was just trying to find out if they were causing the OP a specific problem, or if he was just doing good. Yes, it's my opinion, but these things can bite you in the arse with neighbours. Cheers though.
