Cancelled flight...
Discussion
Depending on why it was cancelled you should be entitled to compensation, it's an easy process. Carefull just googling it as lots of company's pass themselves off as easyJet and will charge you a fee or take some of the payout !

Depends why it was cancelled.
How long the delay 'till the rescheduled flight is.
How long the journey is.
The OH and I each got €250 when an easyJet flight from MAN to VIE was delayed from approximately 17:00 to 12:00 the next day. The journey was just short of 1,500 miles. Had it been more we'd have got €400 each I think.

My mate flew back from Mexico last week with his wife and two kids. He had a six hour delay which meant he spent an extra 6 hours at his all inclusive hotel helping himself.
He Just got £2k ish back from Thomas cook in compensation. Apparently it's the equivalent of €600 per person. The amount he was entitled to as compensation. Only took him a few minutes to claim. Seems barmy. He was saying he only paid about £4K for the entire holiday.
Your original airline will be responsible for compensating you for the original tickets purchased. Not the price of a ticket from a different airline.

All this can only lead to holidays getting very expensive. £2k for 6 hours is silly. He Just got £2k ish back from Thomas cook in compensation. Apparently it's the equivalent of €600 per person. I would hope the OP gets sorted out as his claim is genuine. People are now just jumping on the bandwagon for claims.
Under the circumstances you mention, easy jet 100% liable for all new flights and if that delayed you by over 2 hours then compensation plus possibly accommodation, food and drinks. I'm all for hammering them. They bump passengers all the time and concoct rubbish excuses. There is a good overview on citizens advice. Google it. Do not use a claims handler, it's easy to do yourself
Thanks everybody. It's only the cost of the replacement tickets I'm looking for. Is it €250 AND the cost of the ticket or just €250 as I'm thinking that if I can speak to EJ and explain I am only looking for the cost of the ticket and bu doing that it will also save them €1000 they might look more favourably on it? Thanks

By all means speak with them but they are not lawfully obliged to reimburse you for any consequential losses - compensation (yes, if applicable) but not the cost of additional flights.SS2. said:

2 hours ? Thought 3 hours was the minimum for a compensation claim.Heres Johnny said:
This is probably complicated by you not waiting until easyJet flew you, Sounds like you took a refund at which point your contract with them ended, and booked elsewhere.
If they cancelled your flight and put you in a later one things would have been different.
Surely once they cancel the flight then it's game over and you're entitled to make your own arrangements. If they cancelled your flight and put you in a later one things would have been different.
It used to be that airlines' only obligation on a scheduled flight cancellation was to refund your money. You could end up being abandoned anywhere.
