Just Googled it. Yup. Crapita are in charge. That explains that.
Ok, so definitely ignore them and go to HQ. Twitter could be useful too, they like what's left of their reputation.

Shop mattresses are always softer due to thousand of people testing it. Yours will feel like that after a thousand nights sleep.

Capita epitomises everything wrong with customer services.
This retailer has seriously dropped the fking ball.

A tangential question if I may. Is Capita looking after JL home insurance too? Reason I ask just renewed with them, and it was a bizarre experience of general administrative incompetence. At one point as the Mrs was earwigging the conversation had to ask her if I was being reasonable or a bit of an arsey git. She pronounced it perfectly reasonable in the circumstances.

Turn the mattress every week? I have genuinely never heard this. You're saying this is normal? Every 3-6 months sure, but once a week? Seems pretty mad.
I'm pretty sure my Vi-Spring was every week for the first few months and then monthly.

Turning the mattress is normal practice so I would not focus on that.
But every week?

I expect once a month turn over, next month turn top to bottom.

It's for your guest room? You must fall out with the wife a LOT if the comfort of the spare bed is bothering you this much.

On a slightly different front, I have just bought an online mattress after much research, I went for Sleeping Duck.

The customer service is excellent and they arranged a pre-10am delivery and have contacted me already to check how things are.

Ours is a pain to turn, as it's firmer on one side than the other, so it has to be turned longitudinally or turned and rotated. It also weighs a bloody ton and wasn't a cheapy (about £1500 or so).

Wouldn't want to be turning it too often.

I've got a bad back (hence me wanting it firmer on my side), which means I don't enjoy lifting heavy things!

Did you buy it on credit card? Maybe another avenue to explore if the retailer aren't helping.

Out of interest, have you since been back to the shop to compare your matress with their tester matress? Memory can be a funny thing, it can't always be relied on for something so subjective!

We went to JL to buy our matress, chose one that we thought felt miles nicer than the others. Went back a few weeks later when ready to order (was buying a house), had a quick recheck (same store, same matresses) and decided we weren't keen on the one we originally chose, and went with a different one.

Salesman said it happened a lot!

I have an expensive mattress which is not supposed to be turned. We were given very specific instructions about that by the person which sold it to us, and by the 'installer' they sent round.

Not been back to the shop yet no. Might do that out of curiosity. It was delivered within a few days of looking in the shop so relatively fresh in the brain but who knows. It's just odd that the same mattress was tried in different branches and then when it comes to the delivered one, it was very noticeably different.

Will explore CC avenue too.

Cheers guys.

Can you say the make. We're so old and decrepit than we can't turn a mattress but do need a new one. Thanks
