I think I will be this weekend, the temps have dropped well below 10 degrees here and that's enough for me, combined with the amount of leaves and debris covering the roads its time to park it for the year, I have all the winter gear and heated grips etc but I get no pleasure in getting all hot and sweaty getting ready then having to spend an hour cleaning the bike every time I go out, I'll give the bike a deep clean, cover it in acf50 hook it up to the ctek, pump up the tyres and that will be that.

Been a good year, only 2 bike changes this year which is quite good for me biggrin

All year round for me, although this morning it was noticeably slippy on roundabouts etc.

Did Magny-Cours for the WSBK at the weekend and that's been my one and only outing this year due to house renovating etc.

Spent the day on Tuesday doing the post-ride deep clean and liberal coating of ACF-50 but I'd like to do Snetterton at the end of the month, weather-permitting, then she'll be tucked up for the winter.

Hoping to get my bikey fix through the cold months doing a few small mods and a bit of tinkering now I have a garage with power!

My banger of a bike will plough on through the winter, whats more the extra layer of dirt (haven't ever washed it) should help to make it less attractive to tea leaf's too!

May have to fit the heated grips in the next month or 2 though.

Opposite for me.

Is just starting to cool down enough to get back onto the bike, so this weekend will be servicing the Berg to get it ready for some rides between now and April when it will again get too hot for me. Really do miss the downtime whilst it is parked up, but it is just not pleasant at over 40.

I'll keep the road tax on the bikes till near end of October. I'll probably get a last ride before the end of the season.

That's me for the year track riding, but I am tempted by Almeria in a month or so.

A new job means I'll be commuting by bike this winter. Faffing with kit and a dirty bike are preferable to the alternative commute options.

Thinking about putting the MV away now, as its running on Supercorsa SPs which dont like low temperatures. The "winter banger" (aka Harley) will be covered in ACF50 and taken out on dry days so long as its over 5 deg.

Last winter was so mild I never went more than a couple of weeks without getting out on the bike for a couple of hours.........

Off to BSB at Brands next week, rain or shine. Then it'll be a deep clean and away she'll go for the winter, and out will come the Green Laner :-)

SORNed mine the other week. Usually keep it on the road all winter for occasional use, but had so little time to ride it this year and haven't even had time to get an MoT in the 2 months since my reminder popped up frown

My bike will stay road legal all year but, as of the end of October, I'll switch my commute to cattle truck train. The cold/wet doesn't directly worry me, good kit and heated grips address that, but the risk of leaving home at 05:30 and finding some untreated icy roads becomes too great. I'm too old to bounce and the bike is too expensive to fix.

Time to go through them all and check water, etc. The track bikes need properly winterising, the Arbarth will be on standby for the odd sunny crisp day, the TRX will continue as the hack through the winter when and as needed and the WR will be getting the once over for a few off road days through the shyty weekend weather

I ride all year. Not sure why one would lay one's bike up? There are very few weekends when there isn't at least an hour's worth of dry weather to be had - I wouldn't survive without my weekly spin!

Spring and Autumn are nice times to ride, but the weather has been random all year anyway. I added the Stelvio to encourage more off season use, so will try to get out more. I don't think I've used it on a dry day yet haha. I put some M7RR tyres on my RSV to encourage more use of it too, but probably won't.

1 Because its cold
2 I don't want to ride peering through a filthy visor (coupled with the low sun if I am very lucky) trying to avoid all the ste on the road
3 I don't want to cover my bike in salt and watch it rust away
4 I don't want to clean my bike every time after a ride
5 Because its cold
6 Up here (Cumbria) its properly cold, unlike the soft Southern weather.
7 Can't be arsed with the faff of getting ready and trying to stop draughts, then having to do it all again each time you stop.

This pic was taken on the 16th Sept, it gets cold here

I could go on.......

I used to be a fair weather rider, didn't get any enjoyment out of wet roads or the thought of being cold. Just didn't see the point.

Then I started commuting by bike a few years ago, bought all the gear, and don't mind it. I actually quite look forward to the man vs nature challenge of a northern winter.

That said, nature always wins - I retreat to the car if it's less than 3degrees as a kind of self imposed safety limit - gets a bit dicey for my nerves. But even up here that's not that many days in recent years.

Maybe the novelty will wear off, still remember my old school of thought, but until then it's acf50 all the way
