Indeed I could not be arsed to do more than skim the thread, my bad, but if it's fer real, then 'kinnel. It's even more stupid than if it were a wind up. Can a 48 year old be that naive?
Can anyone be that stupid and make it as far as 48?
That's young for a "modern" biker. They're mostly fogeys. Especially the outlaws.

These things do happen and many a biker has hit those kind of speeds regularly, it's just so much easier than in a car. Add to that the notion that police don't chase bikes and it becomes really easy to assume that you could get away with it.

On the basis that this did really happen (be it '48' or not), this looks to be a very serious matter and sadly the sentence will reflect that. As a biker you are far more likely to reach higher speeds, but also seen as a far higher risk and so 'should know better' etc.

If it is you 48, be very repentant in court.

Nowadays Everytime I see a new bike (I.e within two years) I assume the rider is old and new

My experience of 123.8 in a 60.

Unmarked car parked in a Lay by a long distance from me, well over a quarter of a mile.
Dry road and no visible traffic.

The policeman was polite, the car was checked over by another one and he asked me my speed and what I was out early on a Sunday for. Gave honest answers, was stretching the cars legs etc. Gave my reasoning for being on the wrong side of the road, was sighting a junction more clearly, was polite throughout. Policeman 2 came back and said car appears in good order and tax, insurance etc were all ok.

Now, on court day he turned up and gave his description of events, top bloke for doing that and very appreciated. Gave an honest account of expenses, dressed nicely, explained my working situation with regards to being able to work around not having a licence etc.

30 day ban, £500 fine and recorded as an SP30.

The guy who went before me, took a lawyer and was armed with excuses, got a much larger fine and a 6 month ban.

Your situation does not look roses as a marked carvdoes show a lack of awareness of your surroundings which if not technically a cause for dangerous driving must be seen incredibly negatively.

Just be honest, plan for the worst and do t try to wriggle out of it, manning up goes a long way in the courts eyes imo.

Cumbria police do similar in a red VW Golf R.
Pretty sure back in the 80's, Thames valley police used to have a white Porsche 911 for that sort of thing.
Nope
It was a yellow Espirit
There was a black Porsche in use in the early nineties, also North Yorkshire police had use of a black Jag XKR around the turn of the millenium, used to be parked up on a farm track on the A61 near Harewood House and similar on the A168 around Topcliffe, not sure what they use now but they always had a good range of powerful metal due to the great roads, pretty sure they were the first to use unmarked super bikes too for the same reason.

Well, yes. Scotland is in the UK.

But it has very different laws and practices to the other bits of the country, especially when it comes to very high speeds.

As an old git who wishes to live to be an older git, I have made myself swear: "No litre bikes"! My Morini 350S is a lot of fun but will not go much above 90 with a fat chuffer like me on it. It is mainly a cornering machine (biking, like skiing, is much more fun in turny bits than in straighty bits). I was tempted by a Yamaha Thunderace 1000 but managed to say NOOOOO.

Entrapment? forget it! People watch too many US Cop and Court shows. English and Scots law have far fewer exclusionary evidence rules.

In for a penny, in for a pound, aye OP?

I dislike low speed limits as much as anyone on here, but 124mph in a 50 past a market traffic car is rather brave hehe

What more can you do than hold your hands up? Anything else will just annoy the judge. To be fair that is pretty modest speeding vs most bikes that I see.

"Low speed limits"? These will be the ones where you claim motorists "don't see you" or aren't looking when your doing over the speed limit.

Ride within the limits and your own. I doubt you are super fit to be able to ride faster than anyone else safely.

Assuming the OP is genuine and not a kid trolling or a sad- adult trolling then the first thing that he needs to do is plead guilty. The cop probably has dashcam and monitored speeds - so the judge isn't going to take kindly to it. Prison should be okay as it's not the sort of crime that will get you put in the murderers and rapists cell-holds, and you're unlikely to be explicitly targeted for it by other crims.

I do have to admire that you thought it even remotely plausible you wouldn't go in nick for this though; there's no way you should be in the road with that little awareness.

I'm guessing late teens-late twenties lives with his mum, drives what he thinks is a fast car, works manually and thinks he is being funny...

Now what would be REALLY interesting was IF the OP story is true & he gets a jail sentence that he shares that experience with us. Perhaps the horrors he endures would act as a deterrent.

Essex Police used to do this, in the dark, so you can't tell.
