Nice but I would tuck that away for a couple of years if I were you, or sell it to fund some proper legal advice.

Smiler.

You got balls mate I'll give you that. I know it's cliche but that road must have been 50 for a reason. 124 is frightening.

Well, you've gotta admire the optimism in hoping just for points and a fine for 124 in a 50... in SCOTLAND...

<takes at face value>

Have they actually said what you're being charged with? I'm surprised if it's just speeding - must be your lucky day... If they haven't, then expect a Dangerous charge.

Four months inside for 149 in a 60 in Scotland.

Grow up.
Thats not as daft as it sounds, South Wales Police used to have an unmarked Focus ST that used to regularly goad people into "races" before turning on the blues and two's. I had a heads up about him early on but he tried it 3 or 4 times with me when I had my MK2 RS. My friend in an R32 took the bait hook line and sinker, blues and twos came on at 100mph on the M4.

Original example was a bit extreme I must admit though hehe
Oh, I don't doubt it happened, but I think anyone so childish and insecure that they can be goaded into racing strangers on the public road deserves everything that's coming to them. I'll not deny that I speed (although 2.5x the limit is taking the mick a bit), but if anyone tried to goad me into racing, I'd just ignore them. I don't really give a toss about how fast anyone else's car is compared to mine, and I'm not interested in putting myself at risk just to give someone I don't know the satisfaction of proving it. The police shouldn't be doing it, but if they do and someone is silly enough to fall for it, they shouldn't piss and cry about how the big nasty policeman made them do it.

One would imagine that if he did truly regret it (not sure from the wording of replies) then selling the motorbike would be a physical representation of that regret which may help requesting leniency.

The road systems in Edinburgh are laughable, I've not lived there for 20 odd years but still go back once or twice a year and cant believe how bad some of their ideas are, making loads of 2 lane into one, silly low speed limits etc, proper anti-car approach. Result is most Edinburgh drivers seem to be in a daze - they are going so slowly there is nothing to keep them alert (and its quite funny when they get overtaken or undertaken - they go mental, V signs, horn, flashing headlights etc).

They've just put 20mph limits right the way through the city centre, and I have heard that they are going to implement average speed cameras ... inside the city, in the 20mph zones ...

Oh and that road has had one fatality. Which was a stolen car.

Obviously average speed cameras would have prevented this.

I think you spelt ban incorrectly, should have been bars as that is probably what you will be looking at shortly.

Old Dalkeith Rd is a 30mph limit not 20mph and obviously leads up to the Royal Infirmary. An average speed camera set-up still seems over the top though.

Equally the 50mph section of the A1 where this clown was caught only lasts about two miles before going up to 70mph (if you are heading South obviously). Could he not have waited? 124 mph in a 70mph limit doesn't SEEM quite so bad!
