Just seen Porsche have just released a 911 T, nice to see its not a limited edition and has all the right bits for the enthusiastic driver, PASM, LSD, manual box with shorter gearing and optional buckets as well.

Looks like they have answered all the criticism about only making halo cars no one can actually buy, it will be very interesting to see how well it sells as it probably won’t attract speculators.

Anyone going for one ?

If had a NA flat 6 with the R/Gt3 manual box might be interested , also lightly specd with buckets comes to £90k that's a low miles gt4 territory !
Nice idea but don't think they will sell that well so no need to be limited!

Funny thing is in 5 years time it will probably be worth twice its list price because its rare and they only managed to find 15 mugs made 15! biggrin

Forget adding fluff like RWS, BOSE etc etc and keep it under £90k OTR and it doesn't look a bad package. I'd put the rear seats and PCM back in, and maybe just the interior pack to brighten the cabin up a bit. And floor mats. You can argue all day long a GT4 is a better place for your money but it's a different car - a Cayman not a 911, they are used and at above list price. If you compare apples with apples the T is a 4-seat 911, with a little bit of exclusivity, and if you spec it right - manual, you could have a slightly better than usual (C2/C2S) depreciating 911. And I actually think you could have a bit of fun in it.

I think this will drive brilliantly and it will be worth more than an equivalent £87k Carrera in a few years. The bespoke interior touches, shorter ratios and thinner glass / less sound deadening are all unique to this car. If I had £87k (or finance equiv.) to spend on a new car, this would be it.

I'd buy one if it was NA but sadly that ship has sailed - would just spec buckets and PCCB.

I'd go full buckets, yellow and minimal everything else including omitting the PCM and rear seats. Basic is the idea with this one I think.

but then you are back at £95k car when you can spec a manual 991 with buckets and pccb for £87k



IN the past Porsche made the CS spec cars to be cheaper to get more sales if people did not want all the luxury.

short ratio's, but it's 7 speed and makes peak torque at 1.7k lol

As it stands it's a stupid thing Lotus would do.

I must be missing something as I cannot work it out atm why you would pay £8k more for this over a standard car.

Spec. for spec. works out £6k more than base car!For less than £82k you can have a nicely specd base 911!

Think this is my ideal spec,
Sports buckets - I find these very comfortable and supportive.
PCM - so I don’t get lost.
Rear seats - so it’s gets used more often
Matching seat belts - my one frippery
Rear parking sensors - because I can be a muppet sometimes.

All in just under £89k.

I reckon it may well be more than the sum of its parts just like my Boxster Spyder which would have to go, hopefully funding 50% it, but it would be brand new and more useable weekends.

Umm very interested think I need to drive one of these turbo 3 ltrs and see what they are all about but as I put fun factor over outrageous speed it might be just the ticket....

agree and you are forced to have 20" wheels on the T where you can have 19" on the standard car. the T just seems very pointless.

IMHO this concept may have been better if they placed the power output somewhere between base and S model ie 395hp!

Yes indeed - order placed for one of these as the new daily drive. I think it will be a great drive - I had a good drive in a C2 manual recently and it was great - so this with the lower gearing and LSD, etc should be even better - plus less sound deadening so more of the engine noise - which isn't all that bad either - you can at least tell it's still a 6 cyl engine - whereas the 4 cyl turbo now sounds like a wet raspberry smile

I just don't get this car..! I would much rather get a base 991 370hp and add PCCBs and folding buckets for the same price as a bare bones T. What am i missing here..?

I would have Yellow with Full Bucket Seats which adds the alcan steering wheel etc....reinstate the PCM....that would be it.

I think that would be a keeper.

Has anyone worked out the usual cost of extra bits that this new T has over a base 991.2 therefore showing if the T is good or bad value? I mean an itemised breakdown of the cost of the extras that a T has as standard that a base 991.2 does not. I accept there are bits that a T has thrown in for free like the thin glass, lower final drive, the stickers, the dark aluminium trim in the interior and less sound deadening etc etc, but it would be good to see the things like sports exhaust and 20 inch wheels all costed up to allow an accurate price comparison between the T and the base 991.2.

20" wheels and PSE adds just under £3k to base 991.2
Should have added both not really required for the driving dynamics!

I think a "T" will hold it's vale much better in the long term than a Carrera or Carrera S specced to the same price.

My problem is I think the spec is a bit half arsed....you really need PCCB's and LWB's which are £10k to get really make it feel like a drivers car and then a few other bits (RWS etc) and you're knocking on £100k to get the right spec.

I think it'd be a great car specced like that but a bog standard GTS is £95k.....

What would really be great would be a "T" with th ducktail from 991.1
