That could be interpreted as you are encouraging people to park as aforesaid. I very much hope that isn't the case.
If you are then your credibility just went down the toilet.
Oh no, how will I cope?? If you are then your credibility just went down the toilet.
Likewise that you chose to snip my post in order to avoid having to answer my point about criticising without providing any practical solution/s to the underlying problem.
You can interpret it as you wish - It's obvious where I stand on the parking - I've mentioned it a few (dozen) times on the thread already, but if you can't be bothered to read it...
Unfortunately there comes a time when a trumpet which is only capable of constantly emitting one note becomes boring and excruciating to listen to.
I don't think I am the only one who feels that way.
I challenged you to come up with a pragmatic/practical solution to the problem which you have carefully avoided doing. To date your best effort appears to be:

If it means he has to sit there until the car drivers return, or he has to wait for police attendance , or whatever , thats what he should do as that is the law of the land.
If the drivers who caused the obstruction were at the top of Great Gable it could have been several hours before they returned, If it was Scafell Pike, even longer. As for calling the police , it will be a low priority job for them. When they eventually get there what are they going to do? Ticket the cars/report for obstruction?
That's not going to resolve the actual problem which is getting the cars shifted so that the farmer can go about his legitimate business. How long is that going to take?
In the meantime there is the animal welfare aspect. The sheep can't be kept cooped up in the trailer for hours while the drivers have their jollies.
I don't know what his imperative was or the reasoning for him deciding to crack on and neither do you. He will have to live with the consequences whatever they may be.
For all any of us know it may be a price he's happy to pay if it sends the message that you risk your car being a tad s/h when you return after causing an obstruction on such roads.
The result I would like to see is that the vehicle damage is dealt with through insurance. I don't believe a criminal prosecution will achieve anything long term.
That's assuming it passes the threshold test. Even if it does, what if he wins? You're going to look pretty daft. If he loses I believe it will simply make him even less conciliatory.
What it needs is local dialogue between him, the police, the local authority ,and the NT (maybe the NPA as well), to come up with a workable practical solution to an endemic problem.
Preferably one which does not involve huge cost and excessive red tape.
Btw, as you're so fixated on the law I can't help noticing that you're very quiet about regulations/laws which pertain to livestock movements and animal welfare.
Yet you claim to be a farmer. Arable? Livestock? Fish? Also, in what part of the UK? Let's see your credentials.
And don't forget the custard.
Its clear its a frustrated Farmer, can you imagine every weekend bank holiday and certain days ignorant drivers just park randomly and without consideration.
Now just think when you drive down your street and find it blocked by parked cars on a regular basis........wouldn't you be tempted honest answers only and consider when the red mist descends as it does for all of us, even the most patient, at that moment right/wrong goes out of the window this Farmer may have put up with this for years and just momentarily lost it.
Personally I think the Farmer was quite restrained, heck if had got up enough speed he could have taken the lot with him

It's not really my fault that you can't read - I've listed the options many times , I provided page numbers even so you don't have to search too far , Efbe also listed the options , they're on the previous page, and I added #5 which is the obvious one most people (with a brain and no axe to grind) would have done.I challenged you to come up with a pragmatic/practical solution to the problem which you have carefully avoided doing

I'd certainly agree that it was a case of red mist and he lost it, I've said so before, what I don't agree with a few posters here is that doesn't mean what he ended up doing should be applauded or not punished by ... I'm reminded of the scene in HHGTG where Arthur Dent is lying in front of the bulldozer trying to stop his house being demolished...
Mr Prosser: Have you any idea how much damage that bulldozer would suffer if I just let it roll straight over you?
Arthur Dent: How much?
Mr Prosser: None at all!

Some equally silly people keep posting without once setting out what their suggestion for alternatives as to course of action, despite being asked several times. My conclusion that all they are capable of is empty bluster

I've even listed alternative options myself, which you agreed with, so not really appropriate for you to attempt to be such a smartarse. Maybe if you got off your high horse you'd be able to find them this time.
Um, do you even know what you are saying? If I've listed alternatives , you've listed alternatives and apparently I've agreed with them, and I've then listed the page numbers and Efbe has listed them yet again , why exactly were you asking for suggestions of alternatives, don't you have 3+ sets already?Just for clarity - here are the 2 sensible alternatives :
1. don't drive your tractor somewhere you can't get out of in the first place.
2. if you've managed to get stuck , stop and call the police , and wait , because it's your own stupid fault for getting yourself stuck.
Here's the alternatives you *don't* do:
1. not know your own vehicle width and get stuck
2. smash through other vehicles trying to get out of the mess you've created for yourself.
hopefully that's clear now.
This puts an interesting spin on this, walkers were attending a regular annual remembrance day event:

There is insufficient evidence that he caused criminal damage. It was just accident damage.JimSuperSix said:

In what world is it the tractor drivers fault that a bunch of tossers have blocked the road with their terrible parking? Gold medal worthy mental gymnastics there.1. don't drive your tractor somewhere you can't get out of in the first place.

Yep, very. Thank you for removing the slightest doubt that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.1. don't drive your tractor somewhere you can't get out of in the first place.

It's clear that anyone defending these car drivers is likely the kind of person that regularly abandons their own car wherever the hell they want, and doesn't give a toss about making it someone else's problem.Just for clarity - here are the 2 sensible alternatives :

What do you think calling the police to a non-emergency out in the sticks will actually achieve in this case?

Correct, and if I could choose my neighbours I certainly wouldn't choose them from the side of this argument that supports the selfish ignorant parkers.SpeckledJim said:

How does a farmer do any work at all, playing by that rule, given he can't know if there are morons around the corner1. don't drive your tractor somewhere you can't get out of in the first place.

Bravo Farmer Giles is my opinion, if that helps...

This has been mentioned many many times, on almost every page of this thread.
I have also pointed out that not all of the walkers were at this event, many were up scafel pike too.

- Sit there until the car drivers return
- Call the police and wait for their attendance
- Reverse
- Walk away
- Float away on a balloon
- Don't drive your tractor somewhere you can't get out of in the first place.
I'm not the only poster who has explained why your options have one (or more) of the following characteristics.
- Impractical
- Won't solve the actual problem on the ground
- Are a counsel of perfection which bears little relation to reality in this case
If this incident makes those who do and obstruct narrow rural roads think about and modify their actions that will be a very positive result.
