Out of my window I watched these 2 face off for quite a few minutes before the squirrel eventually made a run for it across the garden.

Why would he decid to carry on inching his way down when he could have gone back up and leapt from tree to tree?

Lol. Great photo. You should post it in the Caturday section of PH, they will love it.

I am not sure the outcome of this is that straight forward to be honest - my great aunts garden some years ago was the scene of such a coming together and whilst brief and ending in both parties exiting in opposite directions, it was the cat's collar that was left on the path.

Most are designed to give way or break completely in case kitty gets it caught on a branch, especially if falling at the time. Stops em being hanged.

Not saying Squirrel wasn't hard as acorn nuts, but...

Distraction tactics. Whilst the cat's watching this one, there's 5 others running up and down the other side of the tree trunk carrying nuts to safety. I've seen exactly this with the big oak tree in the cul-de-sac.

Cat sat at the bottom being fronted off by 1 or 2 squirrels, whilst a load of others were rushing in and out from all directions taking acorns back to their various gardens for burial. biggrin
