If the car was worth less than excess she'd have been daft to get anything but TPO.
My commuter is worth about half the excess. It’s insured fully comp as that option with the excess was the smartest (cheapest) way of doing it.
They know if I have a shunt, there’s no claim for the car so it’s TPOninall but name.

Well that's just daft. I get that damage to others could be a liability of millions and I suppose to be fair she's proved the underwriters right in this case, but it seems daft buying policy cover that would be technically impossible to claim on.

Just shows what an utter extortion racket our insurance industry is.
But it's not impossible to claim on. If you have comp, you have windscreen cover, which will come with the standard excess of £50-£100 usually. If you die in an accident, your next of kin will get the death benefit, about £5K.

Millions of people in this country pay sub £250 for fully comp cover. Not many of them will be on PH though, because they aren't into cars, and drive low group euroboxes.

The insurance industry in this country provides brilliant value for money for most people. Teenagers with Subarus, TVR owners and PH members in general are not representative of the whole.
