After the saga of finding out I had a light weight Lithium battery in my GT4 the hard way, my OPC sold me the correct trickle charger for it.

Now it seems my power outlets switch off after half an hour, before that everything is working fine and the correct lights are on etc.

Is there a fix for this or am I going to have to do a direct connect? The GTS didn't have this problem and would trickle fine through them.

Tried them all! Actually sat by the car (with plug in the footwell) at 28 mins in and heard a click at 30 mins then the Trickle charger switched off.

Porsche seem to have changed the outlet power for 2016 and they go to sleep at about 30 mins. I use a direct connection for the Ctek.

Power outlet switches off after 30 minutes, as per owners manual. However, with my car (2012 911) if a charger is connected it stays live ....... sometimes. The sequence of events matters. If the ignition has been shut down more than 30 minutes my ctek nearly never manages to keep the connection open.

So what works for me, every time: Ignition off. Adapter plugged in to footwell socket. Ignition on. Ignition off. Door closed. Alarm enabled. Cable immediately attached to ctex. Ctex switched on.

On my 2014 car outlets stay live for 30 minutes or so, but if you plug in a CTEK (same as Porsche one I believe) then it will stay live and continue to charge. Shame if they have changed it.

My 2013 CS switches off after 30 mins so my ctek goes to the battery to which I've attached leads with the quick release ctek connector. I just tuck it out the way when using car

On our 2015 BGTS my procedure is ignition off, connect Charge-O-Mat to socket at rear of centre console (in cubby box), switch on charger, lock car. Works every time.

Found a thread on Rennlist for the same problem and yes it seems 2016 were affected (as well as the spot weld on 3rd!) I am going to try Hang On's procedure today though. smile

Tip;
  • run a permanent cable from the battery to the front of the car and install a black, rubber, 2-pin inline socket in the grille.
  • fit the matching inline plug to the cable from your Ctek
  • use a substantial 12v cable from your Ctek and anchor that cable to something solid in your garage...
... then when you jump in the car and reverse out forgetting to unplug the Ctek - automatic disconnection! smile

£2.89 from Amazon (free delivery) https://www.amazon.co.uk/line-Impact-Resistant-Con...
DON'T run the cable from battery to the plug, it goes to the socket. The plug goes on the Ctek.

After trying various sequences today it seems that the last thing you should do is lock the car. Been good for two hours now and I'll leave over night and pray it starts in the morning and not wake the neighbours up with the alarm. (though the exhaust does a pretty good job)

Thanks for the replies PH to the rescue

Pleased to help, hope it fixed it for you! FYI - i’ve never had an alarm problem switching off - my reverse procedure is unlock car, switch off charger then disconnect - a slight voltage drop if you switch off charger whilst the car is still locked and alarmed might be enough to trigger it!
