Howdy.

Got involved a road rage incident. Long story short I was followed home and decided to calm it down and apologise for what he thought I'd done.

Couldn't be bothered going through my dashcam with him as I just wanted him calmed down and gone.

I have footage of him and his mate plus his reg. Lots of him calling me a bar steward at a roundabout but nothing more sinister and he never left the car.

I'm now concerned that he'll return at night and smash my car up or one of his mates will.

Dashcam footage proves I did nothing wrong and going from what he was saying alongside the footage, he must have thought I was a car that turned left in front of me.

Would you bother trying to do anything with the police as they could theoretically show I had done nothing wrong or just save the footage in case something happens (I realise it won't prove anything hence considering the proactive approach).

Cheers.

The last thing I would have done is driven home. I’d have kept driving around until I was certain he’d got bored and disappeared then gone home.

Hindsight is wonderful hey.

I wasn’t scared of them so I wasn’t bothered to be honest. His mate was trying to calm him down and I didn’t abuse him so never thought anything of it.

He was canny and followed me calmly at a distance.

I rang 101 and they said I had to report it fully so I said no thanks, would leave it in case anything happened. That call is on file anyway so it ties things together a bit.

Well I got out the car to talk to him, is that not man enough for you?

Thought this was a place for people who cared about their cars?

Anyway was waiting for a reply like yours, they don’t take long!

Few years ago a dhead started following me after an incident (not my fault obviously - I'm perfect lol).

Let him tail me for a few miles and then drove into the local Police station car park.

He disappeared rapidly.

If I was nearly home and was being followed I'd keep going and call the cops on 101 via my handsfree if he didn't feck off after a few minutes.

Roads are full of psychos these days.

If I was followed home I'd call the Police asap.

That's not a normal rational person. Full stop.

I wouldn’t worry too much most people aren’t completely mad even if they’ve become a road rager. It is exceptionally unlikely they would actually bother to come back another time and cause problems.

As above, you led a mental stalker to your home... Not the sharpest tool in the box.

I would have driven round for a bit and then driven to the roughest estate in town, parking up outside a random house before driving off smile

Careful, happened to my mate in our teenage years. Bricks ended up through his window that night.

There are some proper nutcases out there OP.

I dont think anything will happen on this occasion as it takes sustained anger and a lot of effort to come back and do something, especially as you wanted to calm the situation (as opposed to shouting stuff back at him).

But do learn from this to not drive home with someone following you. I've been followed home once by a bunch of chavs (without any altercation) and it did make me wonder but it didn't concern me much at the time, but a few days later there was a hijacking attempt of my car on my drive. Since then, I make sure nobody's following me and if I suspect there is, I pull over to the side of the road well before i get near the road i live on, and wait for them to pass or otherwise bugger off.

I can sympathise with the OP here - yeah, benefit of hindsight etc but if you didn't notice until too late or got flustered it's easy to not think it all through.

Unless you have done something genuinely serious, I suspect he'll just let it drop and you'll not have any followup on this; if in doubt, park the car the next road over for a couple of weeks which is generally enough time for the heat to go.
