Why would you drive with headlights on during daytime instead of DRLs?
When it's raining?Driving on M4/5 in torrential rain/heavy spray on Wednesday, the number of cars without any rear lights was shocking. DRLs are just at the front.
My leon has that, if the wipers are on the lights come on.
I saw a new shape c class merc the other day with DRL off. I doubt it’s illegal though, you can still get new cars with no DRL. I had a 66 plate facelift focus that didn’t have them.

Yes that’s not because of DRL you still see plenty of older cars with no headlights on in rain. The only way to get 100% success at stopping that would be that wipers are linked to lights so if they are on for longer than 30 seconds the lights come on.Puddenchucker said:
I've yet to see a car with tail lights illuminated when the front DRLs are illuminated.
(Assuming the drive hasn't switched the side lights on)
2014 Jaguar XF illuminates rear lights all the time with front DRLs.(Assuming the drive hasn't switched the side lights on)
Was rather upset to find my newer JLR products don't.

My last two VWs had this feature but you need to have both the wipers and the lights set to "Auto" for it to work and the lights come on after the 4th continuous wipe.My leon has that, if the wipers are on the lights come on.

This is why DRL's that cannot be turned off, and automatic headlights are becoming more and more common, because people simply do not have enough common sense to understand when to use their lights correctly!
I long for the day when cars automatically know when its appropriate for fog lights to be turned on. I'm getting fed up of being blinded by numpties who switch them on in the slightest bit of misty air. And then forget to turn them off again, of course. esxste said:

The higher end German stuff with LED headlights are good, they can monitor the conditions ahead and increase beam and output intensity for fog etc. THats why they don’t have fogs at the front now. Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
