You're trying to argue with someone who is an expert on the subject of motoring offences & court because that's his profession. If we stick to what's actually happened then I suspect he might be right.http://www.counsel.direct/
Your flights of fantasy to silly speeds would see you prosecuted for Dangerous Driving & magistrates can impose a maximum of 6 months imprisonment and/or a Level 5 fine which is now unlimited. If they felt that wasn't enough they could send you to Crown Court where the max imprisonment is 2 years.

Different letters at different stages of the process. Seriously, just accept the advice AGTLAW has given.
You're going to get a letter soon offering you the chance admit guilt and to take a course, or take a fixed penalty notice of 3 points + fine.
If you don't admit guilt, you can have your day in court and risk stronger punishment IF subsequently found guilty. This is where the maximum punishments you're getting your knickers in a twist about comes in.
Feel for you OP; I'm guessing the local police force were doing a crackdown week/day and were out with mobile lasers, rather than it being a static camera? I got done for 78 in a 70 a year ago (posted the NIP on here a few times as there were the usual few who didn't believe me) and I was told that particular force (Penrith) were doing a zero-tolerance week when I got caught; I was driving from Aberdeen to London so never knew about it until after I got the NIP.
Speaking of cameras selby in Yorkshire seems to be mental as an area of late NSL 40 50 30 20 I’ve seen them at every bloody location on a different day over last few months.
When I get a job to go I’m instantly worried now, will I have a laps of concentrating on the speedo for a min and get a ticket ! Is all I think.
I suppose you could argue it’s worked and made me more aware but I honestly feel I’m looking at the speedo more than the road ( yes that old chestnut )

If you read my post on page 2 (which, incidentally, AGTLAW confirmed), you'd have saved yourself a couple of hours of angst and more pages of barney here. The document you posted states that THE MAXIMUM penalty is 6 pts/£1000 etc. It DOESN'T state that that's your penalty in this case.
The maximum penalty for GBH is 5 years. However, if you get nicked for GBH, it's your first offence, and you only clocked the guy once but, say, cut his nose, you might get a year. Or 6 months. Or 18. Unlikely to be the full 5 years unless you battered him to a pulp.
Similarly, unless you did 26mph through the middle of a crowd of kids crossing the road, or unless you've driven through that camera 10 times in the past 24 hours, you're not going to feel the full wrath of the mags. You'll get the standard penalty or (more likely) a course, and that's the end of it.
I'm not sure why this is so difficult (and I'm not in any way associated with the law).

Yes, the maximum penalty for the speeding offence remains the same. They may however choose to charge you with a different offence such as dangerous driving, which of course carries a different maximum penalty.deckster said:

The problem the police have with these notices is getting the language correct so that it caters for the terminally thick. Putting it online will simply exacerbate the issue that you exemplify. All you need to do is read the words, as agt explained above, the meaning is very plain and simple.
Rather than asking for 3rd-hand advice why don't you follow the very simple instructions on the form when you get your own? It will all be on there. If you have trouble with it ask mum for help.
That camera is pretty damn obvious especially at 11am, as it is on the downhill side the OP will have gone through a single lane priority to slow drivers down as well with numerous 20mph limit signs.
As mentioned this was the scene of a horrific accident, one of the fatalities was a 4 year old girl so it is very emotive to the local people. 6 points does seem harsh but I understand why the camera it is there.

I have made no inferences but have offered you advice. It is quite simple, just follow the instruction you will receive, they are very clear and you will find them in the words. The maximum penalty for the alleged offence, it is a speeding offence, is exactly as they say on the form. So yes you could end up with 6 points; if you piss the magistrates off as you have pissed-off the contributors here then 6 points won't be out of the question...even if you are the first to be given 6 points for 26 in a 20.
Posting a question mark on the title of the thread doesn't imply a request for advice it says it is a request for advice as you want to have your question answered...well! either that or you are as bonkers as the impression you give.
The form is very clear even though it does contain more information that it needs to have. I can't recall any flood of queries regarding this particular form. Considering that 10's or even 100's of thousands of them are sent every year, confusion doesn't seem to be an issue.
If I can lighten things up a little.............I go up and down this hill at least 4 times a day and would like a pound for every time I have done my Victor Meldrew impression regarding speeding cars (and HGV's) on this road and the idiots driving up my backside...so when I got my letter I just couldn't belieeeeeeeve it
