Diregarding the bhing, i find the fact someone, or on this thread, two people have been nabbed for 26mph as nothing more than a money earner.
It’s scandalous. The other fact that the holiers agree with it, on a motoring forum ?
Just beggars belief.
I'm actually rather surprised that there have been so few of SP&L's sanctimonious types in evidence. I suppose the whole 'speed kills' thing is pretty hard at 26 mph....It’s scandalous. The other fact that the holiers agree with it, on a motoring forum ?

What you are seeing is the result of cmoose being a grown-up, and therefore hasn't been moaning about the searing injustice he's been dealt, but instead is simply seeking clarity on what the paperwork means and getting on with things.
The vast majority of children who infest this site would, indeed, have turned this into a whine-fest.

I fairness to cmoose, that letter is horribly worded. "The alleged offence (this one) carries a maximum fine of £1,000 blah, blah and a driving licence endorsement of 6 points.. "
The word 'maximum' appears to apply only to the fine element.
What they mean is "the alleged offence carries a maximum fine of £1,000 blah, blahblah and a maximum driving licence endorsement of 6 points...."

In that case I'm bloody glad the blanket 20's near me aren't enforced - most people still do the standard 35 through them, others significantly more!
Good one Lewisham, changing the limit for no apparent reason isn't exactly going to make a difference is it
They will have received £250k from the EU for adopting 20mph zones in villages/townsGood one Lewisham, changing the limit for no apparent reason isn't exactly going to make a difference is it

It’s obviously a letter that’s designed to frighten the recipient into replying by stating in uncertain terms the maximum certain penalties.
That way, glass half full people can reply in a panic immediately as can the “phew” it was not me brigade.
The actual “offender” might also panic and modify their driving too while they sweat at the behest of the admin machine.
The letter won’t win any clear English awards but then neither will the legal profession in general. I guess they are trying to improve as they realise how uneducated/unversed so many of their ‘customers’ are.
AGTlaw is quite level on here so I was surprised they were “out”. I don’t remember a discussion on the letter before but they certainly have posted up those fine guidelines so many times they probably have them permanently saved to their clipboard. I must admit that they probably realised where the thread was heading so wisely got out but it’s improved a bit now so it’s worth posting again.

Just been caught by this camera doing 28mph - I completely forgot its a 20MPH zone due to the lorry crash as I haven't been this way from the Motorway for a while now, completely my fault. Did you get offered the speed awareness course or just points?
Got the letter from the police today, was expecting it to take longer as I only received the letter from Lex AutoLease yesterday. I can apply for the course thankfully!poo at Paul's said:
Is this the hill that the tipper lorry went down out of control and killed all them people, kid on footpath, taxi occupants etc?
Ironic if so, as IIRC the driver got off, despite his tacho showing him speeding throughout the whole of his fking journey !
Quite unbelievable.
And yet, despite having 6ft width restriction signs and markings both ends, there is an almost permanent flow of lorries up and down the hill.......wasn't speed that caused the tragedy.Ironic if so, as IIRC the driver got off, despite his tacho showing him speeding throughout the whole of his fking journey !
Quite unbelievable.
