3 posters have raised the challenge is this whole thread a wind up?
Well you're the expert on this sort of thing. If you were thinking of starting another of your completely fabricated fantasy threads about purchasing a car, fully expecting people to believe you, would you do it the way the OP of this thread has?
Come on now, you are the resident PH fantasy thread / wind up master, so what is you opinion?
I’m guessing you don’t like politics or the farce of getting. Months ban for a lie when no one else ever gets one... yes that doesn’t sit right does it.

Lots of people get bans. They just don’t all post about them...I’m guessing you don’t like politics or the farce of getting. Months ban for a lie when no one else ever gets one... yes that doesn’t sit right does it.

OP I hope this ends well for you. I take it the seller wasn't keen on taking it back with your offer of a drink?
Genuine question how do Cat SOS turn the scrap Cars round in under 3 weeks? Welshbeef said:

OP, any update on the seller contacting you or you contacting him?
Nope, no news.Think I was foolishly (desperately! ) hoping for the guy to come good.
Not looking good at all.
Waiting to speak to solicitor now to see my legal position .
Will update on any progress.

I hope you get some recourse flyinyam - it's the sort of thing I'd do tbh (there but for the grace of god etc etc). You try to see/find the best in people and they turn around and completely hump you. (Yes i know there are alternative view points but this is mine).
It doesn't help matters that I'm a firm believer in 'what goes around, comes around' (and the worse they behave now simply stores up an epic turn around later in life - it always comes back on you, might be 1 month, might be 10 years but it will come back) because you want vengeance immediately but sometimes that's just not possible.
I don't think you'll get anything back I'm afraid. Dealer or not, past history of doing this to others - it doesn't matter - it's got extra cost and heartache written all over it. I'm just not sure it's going to merit the investment (wallet/mental health).
The only way you're going to find out which way to go, going forward is, imo, to take a load of photos and approach some of the lotus specialists (privately - not on the forum) on PH. Get their opinion on what the true state of play is with the car and then either get it back on the road and enjoy it or break it, get something back from this 'experience' and move on. If it's the worst-case scenario, getting some money back when you break it at least will have offset a little bit of the cost. Not great but at least you weren't injured (apart from pride), you get to live again as it were and do things, perhaps, differently next time.

OP, I have bought cars unseen and on trust, and have had highs and lows. Don't give yourself too hard a time, if it had come off as planned we'd all be applauding you right now!
+1 to this having bought sight unseen myself. It's only money & you can't take it with you!. MB140 said:
This is Pistonheads.
I can’t beleive someone hasn’t suggested insuring it and then parking it in a slightly dodgy looking area. It will be gone pretty soon and most probably turn up burnt out.
I think getting it through an MOT so you can register it would be a big ask.I can’t beleive someone hasn’t suggested insuring it and then parking it in a slightly dodgy looking area. It will be gone pretty soon and most probably turn up burnt out.
Unless you know a friendly MOT man that will inspect it whilst wearing his welding goggles...
If it has a UK number and V5C, do you need to go through the whole V55/5 malarkey when repatriating it?
The reason I'm suspicious is that surely filling it in as you would for a foreign import normally and having a new registration issued would "wash" the car of the Cat C write off status, and I can't imagine such a loophole would be allowed.
