Happens all the time, sadly. Nice to see some positive action being taken against a complete cretin.

The article said:
The court heard how Langridge, 54, attempted to ignore the closure and drive through while paramedics were giving CPR and when he was stopped he hurled abusive language at both police officers and paramedics at the scene.
Fertheloveofgawd...

Not just any old road closure, but...

When I had to go and retrieve a load from a truck that had been involved in a multiple fatality accident on the M26 the police were dealing with an idiot that had ignored the closure .
He was in his 50s , drunk , was already banned and uninsured. He also had his family in the car .

I wonder whether the make and model of car he had been driving would have reinforced any stereotypes?

We get people ignoring rad closed signs regularly. It's when heavy rains don't drain away under the railway bridge. People aren't aware of the severe dip under the bridge and get caught in 3 feet of water! Last 4 people who ignored the sign got done for ignoring the sign.

Another guy ignored a sign and was stopped a mile into the road - which was closed for a Marathon race . He was made to pull into the side and wait till the marathon was declared finished and the road could re-open - 6 hours later! He was not a happy bunny, wanted to make a complaint via the local press but they advised he'd be totally ridiculed by readers!

This really, I'd have thought something stronger would be more appropriate. Even a 1 or 2 month ban.
What an absolute bell end.

I thought it was also a 3 month ban? Should have been 12 months off the road and a fair chunk higher on the fine

Reminds me of a local story up here in Sunderland recently. Roads closed all along our sea front for a planned run, as you'd expect roads full of people. Woman driver decides to ignore them as she needs to get to work and proceeds to drive through the runners! Folks banging on her windows telling her to pull over, etc.. and on she drives. Plod finally stop her and she proceeds to blame them for making her late for work.

Not sure but I think she got off with a warning.

Fast forward a few months, Tall Ships come to Sunderland. Sea front roads closed again, but I need to drop my daughter off as she doing a play as part of the entertainment. Bloody great big bin waggon sideways totally blocking the road. Nicely played Sunderland Council biggrin Lets see them drive through that!

Interesting that he wasn't convicted of a driving offence. He was fined for using threatening words or behaviour under Section 5 of the Public Order Act.

He was disqualified from driving under Section 146 of the Powers of Criminal Courts (Sentencing) Act 2000 which allows disqualification for any offence.
