Haven't the police got better things to do? If the road was quiet and they weren't being daft, honestly who cares. Ridiculous.
An accountant somewhere will think it’s worth spending the money to investigate and charge them with all the court costs etc to get the money from the fine....

At least that’s how some of them have seemed to work in past jobs I’ve had hehe

Fair chance the police were either in an unmarked car and/or parked up with a gun - with the time it'd take to accelerate up to speed the cars would be gone, especially if the police car is limited and they're not...

Must have been on a cool down lap. laugh

Presumably the police have been on a verge or bridge when they were clocked and were long gone by the time they managed to get on the road and after them.

Hardly worth a news story though, probably a daily occurrence on that road and hundreds others like it.

Why are they wasting the time following up on something that had no consequence?

Not really helping their image when people through the "shouldn't you be catching real criminals?" line.

Or indeed why bother prosecuting drink drivers who manage to make it home without hitting anything?

finally a thread worthy of PH of old!!

I wonder how they knew they were doing 140?

I wonder why they don't have the plates as mentioned above?

suspect some loser saw them, called it in.................they were probably doing 95!

Is that not potentially a custodial in Scotland as well?

So basically it's an appeal to possibly destroy the lives of four individuals, presumbly given the vehicles successful contributing indivduals, for a victimless crime.

I think some folk need to have a good long look at themselves, and then a good hard kick in the vagina.

Quick, mods: move it to SP&L so the pedants can talk about how many kittens died!

Exactly.

I'm always surprised how much uproar is caused when someone is caught doing 120~. It'll be in the local news for days and then again once the case comes to court.

I've seen these types of convoys on the M6, M40 and M5 several times. Just a few people in decent cars that want to enjoy themselves a little on an open road. I've done plenty of trips up to Glasgow on the M6 with the cruise set to 90~ and often get passed by cars like I'm standing still.

Yer bloody loser for wanting drivers to be somewhat considerate when dlcking around on public roads....

140mph is just silly.. I imagine it wont be hard to find them if the police are motivated to do so....

On Radio there according to a colleague saying the S5 had shortened plates. It genuinely wasn't me but if it is the new shape S5 they are seeking, I am likely in with a chance of a tug in the next few days when commuting!

it didn't take long.

Why is 140 silly? Why is it 'dicking around'? Is 139 silly ? 138? Where is your personal line? 71?

Does that change with the fact the cars are a higher spec? or what if the drivers were trained?

Maybe they were racing drivers?

Maybe they were off duty police people?

140mph on an open road in good conditions is not only not remotely silly, its literally not even that fast in those cars. I mean don't get me wrong, it's pushing on, but not dangerous in any way in the sort of cars mentioned.

It's victimless until it isn't - someone pulls in front of them, hit debris from a truck and burst a tyre, etc. etc. and someone dies.

To be fair, if you've ever been to the 'fechan 140mph is the least you'd be doing trying to get out of it.
