Did my GF run a red light

She's doing exactly what I would teach her to do as a driving instructor. She is holding back from the pedestrian crossing. Whilst it is not necessarily an issue if you move onto it and wait, with two cars already waiting to turn right ahead of her it's definitely not a bad plan. I would always advise a novice driver not to be the third car waiting in the middle of a junction - if your only chance to turn is as the lights change, one will get across, probably two, but the third, if there is any delay at all, can be an issue. Stopping where she does, she is behind the stop line should this be an issue when the lights change. She begins to move forward as the vehicles in front do, so no delay caused. She even has a slight pause before committing across to make sure the vehicles ahead are going to clear the road mouth and she doesn't end up stuck across the oncoming lanes. Overall, from the little we see, very good judgement for a novice is seen.Had a learner on test once who held back with only one car in the junction waiting. I knew instantly why - the car in front was a learner and my pupil realised there was a stall risk. Sure enough the other learner stalled and ended up stuck in the junction until the next green cycle. Happily my student wasn't behind them like a plum blocking the whole junction.
And back on topic, please bin the detector. That would drive me mad in seconds, and would be under the wheels of an LGV after about 5 minutes. Based on the judgement displayed, she really doesn't need it.

May I suggest if that causes you to "gnash your teeth" you need to examine your own driving and mentality and perhaps take some extra lessons. In fact the OP's girlfriend could help teach you as she clearly does it correctly.
