6 points to be added to his licence when he passes his test, It doesnt say what type of scooter he was on.

6 points with in the first 2 years of holding a licence means a 2 year ban, right?

DVLA creates a driving record and the points are endorsed immediately. The endorsement will be on his driving record for 4 years and therefore if the driver applies for a licence within that period and DVLA matches the record to the application then the endorsement will be on his driving licence until 4 years from the offence date.

The new driver provisions apply after passing a driving test. No ban. Revocation of licence and retest.

since they've shown they aren't bothered about whether they have a licence or not, I suppose they'll just carry on riding illegally.

Takes test, passes, 6 points applied, licence revoked, takes test, passes, full licence.

Would another six points within two years result in another revocation?

He won't get his licence revoked when he passes his test even though he has six already. It's six points within the first two years of passing.

That's not how it works.

6 points imposed.
Passes test and 2 year probationary period commences.
Drives as normal.
Gets another 3 points within probationary period and within 3 years of initial 6 points being imposed, then licence would be revoked under new driver legislation as his total would be '6 or more'.
Re-takes and passes another driving test.
Probationary period is ended, even if this is within 2 years of passing first test.

Not quite. Revocation applies if within 2 years of passing you get points which bring your total to six or more.

Which means his licence will be revoked if he gets any points at all within 2 years of passing. Unless he takes long enough to get a full licence that these points are no longer relevant by then - they expire after three years just as they do for totting.

(I see SS2 types faster than me)

I'm pretty sure how it works is that when he wants to learn to drive and has to tell his insurers that he's got 6 points for riding an untaxed, untested, uninsured vehicle on the road with no licence they suggest he might want to walk everywhere until those 6 points have expired.

When I was young and daft I done the same thing on a petrol scooter.

I waited until I went to court and got my provisional endorsed with six points, then went and started driving lessons. Had I passed my test before court I would have got my full license revoked - st happens.
