Probably the only advantages to the public of the old target setting / detection rates regime, probably more crimes were investigated in order to hit figures though there was a massive amount of creative accounting / fiddling in relation to those figures Crimes can now be simply closed off under the new outcomes framework - 'Investigation complete - no suspect identified' with no questions asked Around 48% of recorded crime reports are finalised under this outcome.

There are pros and cons to different systems. That sort of performance data should always, in my view, be used as 'indications' of performance, not define performance itself. The old saying, 'What gets measured gets managed' comes into play (as you say, 'creative accounting').

I think it's better now where the volumes of recorded crime don't matter in that respect.

don't think you're going to get your consolidation goal you keep trying for.

When you start off writing something stupid you can't support, it's usually best to stop digging.
So instead of your patronising tone perhaps read a few things and take on board the experiences that are being shared. There is no 'goal', just a feeling of apathy with the Police force, for all the reasons given.
You're asking me to 'take on board' with what I already know.

The same data I use as evidence to support that you're wrong also contains data about people who are dissatisfied, lack confidence, trust etc in the police.

I don't know why you'd think I'd think otherwise, especially as I've mentioned it twice. It's quoted above when I replied to Lemming Train's failed attempt at using sarcasm to make a point.

Seriously Dude, I don't have a dog in this fight but can't see how La Liga could have presented a more logical, simple or evidential case.

If similarly robust evidence exists (it might) which draws a different conclusion, you should find it and present it. Just saying "me and my mates think differently" is perfectly valid as long as you don't then argue that this is reflective of the views of the majority of the population.

At the moment LL is wiping the floor with you in this argument!

I thought you lot had forgotten about me !
I'll probably on night shift again , the weather forecast isn't great and historically it's when the the thieving gits come out . I've just got a feeling that they've put to much effort and took to many risks to leave empty handed .
I'm making it as difficult as possible for them .

In my experience OP, they tend to move in patterns, they will turn up 3-4 times, then move on to a different area.

We used to have the same guy come round at exactly the same time (to the nearest 30 minutes) every night, for 3-4 nights, trying doors and car handles, windows etc. then he will disappear for 2-3 months. Same clothes+rucksack, same approach, same demeanor. Rinse, repeat.

Typically, the entire street from whatsapp/CCTV would report it via 101, and it would take the police until the 3rd or 4th night to alter patrols.

There’s no officer more effective than PC Rain.

So do more robberies happen in bad weather then? I didn’t know that. Hopefully they will have had enough of your house and will now go away.

More crime in bad weather as the rain washes evidence away such as finger and footprints and the wind masks the noise they make. Less chance of being seen by a passer by as less people around as they stay in .
Criminals aren't that stupid in some ways !

That used to be the case for all crime bar crimes of passion etc. In winter round here they are still prolific taking high value cars etc. The difference is they don't walk trying doors anymore they are driven to addresses.

Back on night shift again ! Wife was away overnight last night so only one car on the drive , I'm just settling down to enjoy a good nights sleep on whichever side of the bed I want to and I hear the cctv recorder spark up , it's just a car parking outside I think but then I hear a dull thud !
I flick the tv on and there's the arrogant tracksuit wearing fker swaggering around the back of my house looking in the outbuildings , I jumped up and tried to keep an eye on the tv whilst trying to pull some clothes on . Straight downstairs as I watched him jump back over the gates and guessed he's going back to the window on the front , I didn't put the lights on this time and I opened the dining room door and there he is trying the window again , I popped up at the window with a baseball bat in hand and he's off like usain bolt down the street !
I'm guessing he thought the house was empty but the absolute arrogance of him had to be seen to be believed , definitely not in any hurry and very comfortable in his work .
Called the cops who came round , had a quick look at the footage and announced there hadn't been a crime committed so couldn't do anything even if they tugged him , they also told me I shouldn't have a baseball bat and advised me to get a door bell that records anyone in front of it , after watching the fker on 5 cameras checking out the car , jump the gates , take a look in the outbuildings, jump back over the gates and run down the road . I think he had a guy watching with a car down the road but it's just to far away to Id it .
It's an eye opener to watch these people at work and a huge reality check that regardless what you've done , this st is still willing to have a go ! Cameras were no deterrent last night , easily got around with a scarf and hat .

Lucky you didn't get arrested for admitting your possession/intended use of the baseball bat. But at least that would have been one crime solved.

Should have asked them what are you expected to hit a baseball with then.

I told him as I hadn't hit anyone with it no crime had been committed , he'd set the precedence . To be fair he didn't make a big deal of it , and he only saw it on his second visit as I'd hidden it on the first one , he caught me off guard by coming back round to take another look at the recording.

Buy a baseball to sit next to the bat.

Shame you didn’t get to smash him up op! This kind of thing make me angry - it’s your house damnit!

Might be worth changing your choice of implement now plod have seen it? Ideally to something a house holder might have around for other reasons - maybe a spade?

Did your security light come on (if you have one) and did it have any effect?

The OP can have a dozen baseball bats in every room - not illegal inside the house. Officer may advise regarding use..not possession
