So they are cameras then I’d love to see the Home Office approval documentation......
Why? Type Approval isn’t compulsory.

I'm guessing these won't be used to award points? Type approval not compulsory???

Is Heathrow private land also?

What? - so anyone can set up a speed camera and start handing out points and fines? Lucrative - I know a perfect site to generate cash laugh

When I bhed about average speed camera's possibly getting rolled out on non roadworks roads I was derided a few years back but look at it now going up all over the place. Spotted some more near Boxhill yesterday on a silly 50 limit DC.

Subject to the normal rules of evidence a court can accept or reject evidence on a case by case basis. Type approval allows the accuracy of the device to be assumed by a court.
If evidence comes from a non type approved device its still evidence. However it opens several new avenues for a defence including a Judicial review into should they have used them in the first place, abuse of process and even article 8 over and above putting them to proof on the speed.
With the potential that months or years later a definitive ruling will reverse all that have gone before.

Can someone point me in the direction of the notice stating that Heathrow are stopping security checks and diverting all resources into trapping staff for speeding?

Thought not.

This will only be a staff / employment matter too and not an issue for Joe Public.
Here you go...

the gist of it is that the new tiny cameras are speed cameras first, ANPR cameras second, and security cameras last.
How can it be a staff / employment only matter if they are on public roads near the airport?

While the public have access to those roads, they are not public roads in terms of ownership and operation.

Are you talking about the public roads we all use around the perimeter? Eg driving from Hatton Cross over to T1/2/3?

That's a shame its a good bit of road, I will have to adjust my driving style (I might hold the unofficial record between Hatton Cross roundabout and the roundabout at the Long Stay car park!).

Does this mean I, as a non BAA employee, can drive as fast as I like on it without risking my licence?

Just driven past the ones on Northern Perimeter by long stay 2/3. I was going about 35 in what I thought was a 40.

I'm so sick of driving now - it's just not worth the hassle anymore.

By the looks of it, the airport is authorised to set enforceable speed limits (and other prohibitions) on their own roads (rather than needing Hillingdon council to do it), here's an example order:

https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/3170460

An interesting bit is:

"k) Heathrow staff are to comply with the set speed limits on all Heathrow roads"

I'm not sure if this implies that staff are exempt from some regulations (and they need to specify which are not exempt), or that they are just making it clear.

It seems that anyone seen speeding will be reported to the Police for anti social behaviour under S59

Total bks and good luck with that one !

Still think this is aimed at staff/airport workers, rather than joe public, hence the notice from LO.

Explains the car parks being switched over from seperate card pass, to linked to your staff ID, as well as your reg number etc.
, and the written confirmation in that document about airport staff must adhere to it.

I also got my speed flashed up as i approached pod parking. These cameras are not legal for ticket purposes. The warning sign needs t be well before the cameras and could be disputed easily. Also if they are average speed then the distances need to be calibrated by the relevant authorities and a certificate would need to be produced. If I get a letter I will be disputing. Trying to come round that section of road from a 70 to a 30 is frankly daft, i didn’t see a single kitten.

Don’t worry repel-fool will be here soon to tell you a half truth about how it doesn’t need to be calibrated.
