Any idea what this could be? No other damage to the garden so I don't think it's a badger

No foods stuffs or dirt left at the entrance but I did cover it up with grass last night and it's been moved out of the way

Looks like it might be a brown rat burrow? My neighbour had one that looked fairly similar to that. Shown here too: https://www.naturepl.com/stock-photo-entrance-to-b...

If so, get rid of them as soon as you can! Since they're not in your house you could probably chuck some poison down there. Traps around the entrance run the risk of trapping some innocent birds.

Before you start putting poison out rig up a camera and find out for sure.

I would say definitely a badger digging for worms. Virtually nothing you can do that is legal to prevent this.

With the vast increase of badger numbers everywhere through out the country expect more gardens to be affected.

Put your garden hose down it and flood the burrow. Anything down there will soon come out.

Maybe they are all down there having a party

You are not in one of the LUCKY areas so unfortunately you cannot shoot the TB infested vermin.....flood (hose 1/2 hour) the set every night, Black & White foxes hate the damp.

I hate badgers because they have bigger penises than I do. Plus, one touched me once and I haven't been able to move on.

You sound like an utter tt.

What's wrong with just leaving it be an enjoy sharing your garden with wildlife? Set up a camera, maybe even put out some food and watch it.

It's not doing any other damage, as you've stated, so why the fuss over a bit of dirt which now has a hole in it?
