Boundary Lane.

Grass Hill is more terrifying than the North Face of the Eiger.

Local residents tried something similar. Didn't like 'their' little lane used as a rat-run especially by school run Yummy Mummies & their blasted vulgar SUV's & by the likes of me I occasionally in car or on my bicycle, so they posted some home-made signs & placed some bollards in the middle of the lane at each end. Within days the signs were removed & the bollards dumped in a local stream. The scenario has not been repeated - hurray.
Sometimes the "connected" one's manage to talk a local councillor into getting proper signs put up, at OUR expense on a PRIVATE ROAD!!!! frown They probably get it resurfaced for free as well!! mad
in some case i've seen they actually had "keep clear" boxes put in front of the entrance to their driveway so they can get out into traffic and one even got a dedicated lane put on the road for the entrance to their drive........... This outrageous and obvious corruption at council level drives me f**king mad, and ut's us mugs paying for it!!

I'd like to see any evidence of private road owners getting their roads surfaced for free, do you have any?

The cost of surfacing roads has sky-rocketed in the past few years so those who live on the roads are paying more each year into a fund to eventually find the tens of thousands it costs to resurface even a relatively small road. Our eighty or so houses used to generate a few thousand a year but the yearly payment has trebled so that we now generate well into five figures to build a pot so that when the next 50k-60k bill comes in we can pay it.

Of course not, without doubt it does happen though, bloody councillors doing "favours" for golfing buddies.

A mid-night excursion with a can of black spray paint usually solves the box & signage problems.
