How naive.......

I used to think this too, but the truth is most of them know exactly what they're doing and know exactly what sort of agro they're causing.
The next assumption is that they don't care what agro they're causing, and in some cases that may be true, but in most cases they label the drivers behind as impatient/rude and do it to teach them a lesson.
In extremely rare cases people see the havoc they're causing and they pull over to let vehicles pass.

What interests me about the 40mph club, is you never find them on motorways. So, either they go faster on motorways or they simply do not use them, which I find hard to believe.

Assuming they do use motorways, they are going faster than 40, and I’ll bet if you ask them they’ll claim trucks are too slow. But here’s the thing, trucks are only allowed to do a maximum of 80% of the speed limit, yet they bumble along most places at 66% of the maximum allowed.

Funny thing is, this sort of deliberately-driving-slowly theory only ever seems to occur to the sort of person who thinks that it should be law to do the speed limit or anyone doing 40 in a 60 should have their licence removed or some other such rubbish, and who thinks they are so important that everyone else just MUST be out to teach them a lesson because what other reason could there possibly be why it ALWAYS happens to them...., yet lack the ability to link why it ALWAYS happens to them with their own low standards of behavior.

I'm going to take a punt here and say the reason it happens to these people is because they're the type who aggressively tailgate the car in front no matter what speed its doing, combined with getting extremely angry about every little thing they can't control, and the only conclusion they can arrive at without looking at their own behavior is that the slower driver MUST be doing it on purpose just to hold them up.

Yeah weird that - 40mph on an A-road thats likely quite narrow and with limited visibility, compared to being happy doing 60 to 70 on a huge 3 lane road with no corners....I wonder what could be going on there...

Perhaps we should call Poirot or Columbo to try and fathom this one out?

It's an interesting point that. A similar point, or punt if you like, may apply to those who make serial and hyperbolic complaints about truck elephant racing. Clearly I can't apply this to those making comments online, but experience from those who moan about it in real life tells me that they're very often the same types who are poor at time management, don't plan their time important journeys with any degree of time safety margin allowance, are often late or last minute departure merchants, see time management comment, then rely on being able to travel over permitted limits in order to 'pull back time.' Then they make up twaddle like "I was held up by two trucks racing for 25 miles" an actual quote from someone who'd previously wasted an hour chattering about nothing much plus surfing the internet.

Sorry for the snip, but I'm intrigued as to your sample size [of these people who moan in real life about elephant racing]. Now I'm getting on a bit, so the old grey cells are poorer than they used to be, but I can't remember anyone even mentioning elephant racing in real life. Let alone enough people to make a big enough sample for that conclusion!

I was thinking along the lines of FIF and Jim as above. It's probably connected thinking how people ought to drive rather than are likely to.

I tend to find slow traffic is local traffic.

Office comments over a few years, not a big sample admittedly, excuses for being late mainly or not having had time to do something, not always the proffered excuse obviously, but it clearly resonated somewhere in the grey cells. Sorry if I don't keep a log of excuses, Monday 12th, dog ate my homework. Either you accept the observation or you don't, makes no odds.

Sorry, who said anything about quite narrow, limited visibility a roads? The a roads round this way are wide open with visibility for miles in some places, one of the limited advantages of living somewhere flat.

Over 40 minutes of drivel videos... I cannot believe someone sat there uploading a 40min video to youtube whilst rubbing their hands together chanting "The internet will like this oh yes".

A better more worthwhile hobby is in order.

Do they have 3 lanes in each direction with a hard shoulder, no on-coming traffic, no junctions etc?
If so then yeah what on earth are these people playing at...

You've decided then, without looking at the roads in question, that more than 40mph is dangerous? Impressive.

The same could apply in reverse. You can't really make decisions about why somebody is driving at 40mph

Apparently it's because they are all out to deliberately annoy every other driver that may be behind them.

From the photos of the incident

who was the driver impeding on a deserted carriageway ?
, granted lane hogging with a queue of irate drivers behind is a justifiable case for TOR

seems harsh in this particular circumstance ,

As has already been pointed out, your own standard of driving isn't brilliant but you couldn't see that. Yet you still feel you have the right to comment on what other people do on the road.

Quite agree there is some st driving in the UK and you sir fall into that category. The fact that you feel the need to up load videos that try to demonstrate how good you are. Just demonstrates to the rest of us just how little you are aware of your own failings.

My driving is probably far from perfect but better than the st I see every day tbh. My only concern on accidents is other road users, my motto is if in doubt pass it out. All them useless drivers are a menace and staying behind them will only heighten the chance of an accident, it's easy to get past them however and let them dwaddle around themselves.

As I said previously one thing I can't understand is why people are so reluctant to overtake, is overtaking prohibited nowadays...?
