Let's hope that the wide publicity surrounding this case encourages women to think twice before allowing themselves to be alone and vulnerable in a private place with men they have only just met.
At some point in any relationship whether it's a one night stand from Tinder or a longer one a woman is going to end up having to put herself in a position where she is alone with someone who can physically dominate her. In either circumstance their position is the same - they are at extreme risk.

I don't necessarily even think spending more time with someone is necessarily safer. They might have had bad intentions from the start. Predatory behaviour is common.
But who's fault is it, that young women seem to be attracted to the type of personality traits which these sickos have in abundance.

The prick had the level of suppression due to his numerous cases. Many more details in NZ papers.

I don’t often say it but his lawyer should be very ashamed given what he argued.

It's the lawyer's job to argue the accused's case. It's a fundamental part of the justice system.

I wonder if the international papers who named him are questioning their judgement given what we know now.

Some go the extra mile. This one needed a special mention.

Can we bin this victim blaming BS for good please?

As to whether the defence lawyer crossed the ethical line - I dunno enough about the trial to say whether he did or not. If he did, he would deserve censure.

I'd want mine to go the extra mile.

A shame to read that her father died of cancer last month, before seeing this PoS convicted of these additional crimes.

Just a shame that those sentences are concurrnet rather than consecutive. I can imagine Jesse Kempson being a danger to women for the rest of his life.

He'll only be 45 if he is released after his minimum term. I've no idea how the NZ parole system works but lets hope his stretch is longer than that.

Agreed.

I was also disappointed the sentences weren't consecutive.

How the law works and how is practically pans out may be different, but as you say, he doesn't sound like the type who is going to not present a risk in a couple of decades.
