Not sure whether to buy a Veloce which is more practical, or a Quad which may hold its value more
Veloce around £25-£30 Quad £35-£40

What would you do?

I've had a Veloce on test for a day and absolutely love it. I wouldn't feel short changed with that car. However, whether driving a QF would change that opinion, I can't say....

If I could afford the QF, I see no reason to pick a Veloce over it.

I have only driven the Veloce and it is beautiful handling, I was thinking of changing the exhaust if I get one, apparently the QV exhaust is only fully open in Race Mode 😔

The reason i have a Veloce over a QF is that my Veloce is Q4.

I am not sure if the Q4 was an option in the UK

If Q4 means 4 wheel drive, I don't think it's an option anywhere, as in, buyer doesn't get a choice biggrin On UK cars, it's RWD only and on the continent it's 4WD only.

No idea why....

If it follows the Maserati products philosophy it will have a lot to do with changes needed to platform/drivetrain for RHD cars and the tiny numbers associated with

No, it's not available in the UK which is a shame.

QF is sensational . In the green A setting it’s like any a standard Audi, BMW etc but better steering and ride .

In Dynanic or Race, it’s just lovely , 10 months on and I really cannot sau enough positives about it. I would expect the Veloce to be very good but you can’t really compare them both

Hope you take the plunge

I love my Veloce its a superb piece of kit. I expect I would love a quad more though.

However I would expect running costs to be significantly higher, the Veloce isn't cheap, but it will be less thirsty, cheaper on Tyres, cheaper to insure, cheaper to repair if anything breaks and probably depreciate less pound for pound (proportionately about the same I expect).

A 1750 GTV and a Quad..... pretty much the perfect Alfa garage. smile

As a very happy Veloce owner, the biggest issue I have with the Veloce (aside from the awful gearknob) is that I spend a lot of my time thinking:

“If this ‘cooking’ model is this brilliant, how blardy good must the ‘hot’ QV model be?!?!”

Get the QV if you can afford it.

hehe

Alfas have always been like that though.. Every car in the model range feels more or less the same, some are just a bit quicker than others. A 1300 105 series Giulia Sprint is just as enthusiastic as a 2000 GTV, just a bit slower.

I don't think Alfa have ever really made base models that leave you wishing you were in the range topper. If one car in the range is good to drive, they're all good, and if it's crap, they're all crap hehe

exactly this the QF will be good but if you already drive a Veloce it won't be so much better just a bit faster and more costly to run .

The Veloce really is that good.

I loved my Veloce, had it for 2 years nothing tops it for ride , handling and steering feel.
Currently have a new c43 and really miss the veloce .
Test drove the Quadrifoglio but couldn’t see the benefit as a daily driver.

It's going to be very hard to use the QV. I'm an Alfa man through and through but I have a Lexus ISF at the moment and that wouldn't be far off the QV in terms of pace. It's so fast that you really struggle to rev it out without doing dangerous speeds. Seriously competent and I believe the QV would be a significant step over this. But the Veloce I drove had an amazing chassis so I don't know if you'd miss the power as it is a quick car anyway. The Veloce might be more enjoyable more of the time with the QV being more exciting on the few occasions you can actually use it near its potential.

The Veloce is definitely going to be a good bit cheaper to run though.

Both are fantastic cars.

One difference, if it matters to you, is that you can turn traction control off in the QF but not in the Veloce. So if you want to opposite lock your way around three laps of a roundabout, then the QF is the only choice between the two... but IMO that's really not what these cars are about anyway.

Saying that, for me, the Veloce allowed enough leeway before stepping in to keep me happy... and reasonably safe.

Anyone tried the Veloce with the Performance pack inc LSD? I've been looking at adverts and its rarely mentioned, but I don't know if thats because the dealers don't know it's equipped, or it was just a rare option?
