E Scooters soon to be allowed on UK roads?
Discussion
I’m up in Newcastle this week, and there are these bright orange rental scooters all over the place. Literally everywhere we went, there must be thousands of them.
They didn’t seem to be a danger, as apparently they are location-aware, and seem to drop down to an absolute crawl anywhere and everywhere.

Was the bad man mean to you?
Do you have anything meaningful to add, or is this your level? The sum of your recent posts is 'No scooters on the road, no scooters on the pavement, scooters bad', so I don't feel you're in a position to lecture me.
2 seriously injured in e-scooter crash in Wolverhampton.

Rentals Abandoned all over Liverpool city centre, surely a deposit is paid?
Don't you just drop them off at the end of your journey ?Next person wants to rent one uses the app to locate the nearest one .
Suspect the Mersey will end up full of them.

Yep, I live there. They're a pain in the arse. Muppets just leave them anywhere and everywhere when they're done with them. Absolute genius in the minds of the idiots behind this scheme. They didn’t seem to be a danger, as apparently they are location-aware, and seem to drop down to an absolute crawl anywhere and everywhere.

I've made a number of meaningful posts in this thread. At the moment I'm responding to some bks about a line of ambulances appearing outside a school followed up by 'You're so mean'.
The sum of your recent posts is 'No scooters on the road, no scooters on the pavement, scooters bad', so I don't feel you're in a position to lecture me.
See the last few posts. The sum of your recent posts is 'No scooters on the road, no scooters on the pavement, scooters bad', so I don't feel you're in a position to lecture me.
Obvious thing is obvious.

Should always be wearing a helmet to avoid 'serious head injuries' and having a passenger is a nonsense on an e-scooter. Hardly representative.https://www.expressandstar.com/news/local-hubs/wol...

Who cares? Why is that a problem, idiots just leave cars everywhere and anywhere, bikes, etc, why do the UK public have to be so fking NIMBY about everything.

Spot on. Cars left around like litter everywhere and nobody bats an eyelid, or hardly anybody , and just accept it and walk around. High time we reduced the car population by 25-50% and the difference would be immense. Bringing VED in line with the actual cost of the environmental and infrastructure impact would be a good starting point.
Could you enlighten us with the actual cost of cars to environment and infrastructure please? And the shortfall between that impact and VED collected? Should fuel tax should be considered in this comparison too? Edited by bigothunter on Monday 14th June 17:08
