Hey phers not sure if this is the right forum but I need of some guidance. The gf has gone on holiday today with her mum and accidentally taken my passport with her. I was meAnt to be on a flight departing 10mins ago to Geneva.

Looking online it seems you can get same day passport renewal at Victoria for a big fee but Im unsure if they will be expecting the old one to be brought along as the service is listed as not available for lost - it isn’t lost I just can’t get my hands on it but will they be likely to insist on the old one? Have tried calling but no answer

A friend of mine had the same issue a few years back and got a replacement from Cardiff I think. He didn’t have to have his old one as it was nowhere to be found anyway.

You can legitimately have more than one passport, for example if you need to visit two countries that hate each other. I don't know if you need the first passport to get the second passport though.

Same day renewal requires the original expired passport.

If you report it "lost" I think it's aa 5 working day turnaround, you can't get same day for a lost passport.

Yes you can get 2nd passport, but the fact your gf has taken your 1st to Somewhere else is not a reason to get a 2nd & won't be accepted.

Surely it'll be quicker/cheaper/less hassle just to get it couriered back?

That's what I was afraid of, whilst I know it's not lost they won't so I think this one might be a no go. Thanks for the info, at £177 quid for the appointment plus probably rebooking flights tonight I don't fancy gambling!

Can you not fly on another form of ID?

Where is the GF? A courier is not going to be as expensive as the options you have thought of. Or if it is, you know 100% it's going to work.

They can be very flexible on what's considered lost if it helps. I picked up a 2nd passport a year ago, but didn't;t take my old 2nd passport which had expired a few years earlier. She told me I could declare it lost & pick up the new one in a week or bring the expired one in & do it same day.

Currently exploring the courier option but it is from Tenerife to uk so maybe not as easy as France but still eu technically. On the off chance anyone knows a good fast courier service from Tenerife! Every time I search I get “send a package from uk to Tenerife”

Seriously try a DHL. They will have an office there & I'd be surprised if its more than a couple of days.

Dhl should be next day at the very worst. Can be same day on certain routes. They do a money back guarantee on some time critical products. A passport is a document, so simple process for the waybill.

We had similar a couple of years ago, the wife arrived in Greece only to discober she had my passport, i was due to fly out ans meet her a week later.

We looked into the courier option, but they refused to take it as it was an ID document...

we eventuallt found some holiday makers there that brought it back with them, i then went and met them to get it back

And this is what I would do and pay them a reward when you meet them at the airport

You were misinformed. How do you think the passport office gets them to overseas applicants?

If your mrs is already there, have her go in person. Also ring the UK main customer service to discuss the situation and fastest route. DHL local offices I find mixed ability depending where you are.

Have you GF get on a plane and bring it back in person. She can be back sipping tequila on the beach the same day.
