I’ve just read your comments again and the summary seems to be to let the virus run free in summer, because it’s not winter and that’s fine because not many were dying. I’m not sure if you’re aware of this, but death is the absolute end of the chain. Along the way there are many touch points where the NHS is needed and could easily be overwhelmed. The plan has always been to slow the spread, not stop it, not eradicate, but slow it down and try to avoid the NHS being overwhelmed. The fact it hasn’t been overwhelmed is a sign of success. The plan wasn’t to run it to capacity and have as many people ill as we could treat. That would be ridiculous, but it seems to be the latest loony tunes approach that you’re peddling. Can you explain why using available capacity during quiet months to treat patients would be 'loony tunes'?
Because you have to let let the virus loose to infect people. It would be insanity to deliberately infect people. Even more so when you consider that some of the ones you’re deliberately infecting to fill up capacity will die. That isn’t just political suicide it’s arguably murder.
Plus how do you manage it so effectively that you only infect a fixed number of people to fill up that capacity?
Slightly off topic
Me and my wife stayed in a Premier Inn at the weekend (the only hotel open), the emailed me and said that if they thought I was staying there in breach of the regulations they would call the police and report me.
They sent me 5 emails to this effect and phoned and said the same

Ooh, that's funny. The context was that RSTurbo was suggesting we should have filled up the spare NHS capacity. That would require deliberate infection of people. Some of those would die.
Would you find it quite as laughable if I said deliberately infecting someone with HIV is arguably murder?

Murder ? What did I miss ?
Manslaughter even (of the gross negligence variety) ? Nah, I don't think that one would wash.
However, the care home fiasco will likely see some very difficult questions raised for some people.
What you missed despite the sensationalist and out of context emojis above is that RSTurboPaul suggested that the government missed a trick last summer by not using up the spare capacity in the NHS and should have allowed the virus to spread more freely. Manslaughter even (of the gross negligence variety) ? Nah, I don't think that one would wash.

I suggested that as that would have effectively been deliberately infecting people, some of whom would die, that alongside political suicide it would arguably be murder. At the very least a public inquiry would be massively critical of such an approach.
There is precedent for it with HIV but our m pretend legal bod isn’t able to see what was actually written and prefers to snip my comments and not answer direct questions.
OK, thanks unident. I see your point.
How exactly could the spread of the virus be managed precisely to take up that "spare capacity" , I wonder ?
I presume that Paul RSTurbo has no experience in the NHS and has no idea what was actually happening last Summer. Graphs showing "spare capacity" do not reflect the situation and what the NHS was trying to achieve

Exactly. He does enjoy his hindsight conspiracy theories though. How exactly could the spread of the virus be managed precisely to take up that "spare capacity" , I wonder ?

Haha, not locking down for Covid would be the same as purposefully injecting people with HIV and would be murder.
Unident, you are a whole world of
Didn’t say that either. Unident, you are a whole world of
Government has a responsibility to protect the nation. It was an unknown threat, but a real threat, it was killing people, there was no medical defence to it then. Simply leaving it to run riot would arguably be in real breach of the governments duty of care.
The key word in all this is “arguably”. You don’t want to see that though, you want to act all high and mighty and claim the high ground when you’re far from being in a position to do that.
