I know lots of people on here are anti-dashcam and don't want a culture where we snitch on each other but this is the perfect example of where it works perfectly to get an utter off the road.

@bv72

4m suspended for 18m (to include 200 hrs unpaid work). Disqualification 18m. Extended retest.

If the sentence weren’t during the covid pandemic then immediate not suspended sentence.

I'm all for reasonably ignoring speed restrictions where safe to do so but that sort of speed in a 30, the guys needs to be locked up.

Dashcam footage sent to the rozzers though spin hopefully just reserved for serious offences like this.

About 30 years ago I was stopped for doing 70 in a 30 limit. Thankfully the traffic officer was very understanding of my error, and let me offsmile

This one's a notch up on that though!

If you were driving a 3ltr Capri also through Sunderland I may have been in the passenger seat !

Why would someone of previously good character drive like that? I have ridden motorbikes at silly speeds in the past but still only where (you at least think you can) see potential hazards. Going in the wrong side near past that crossing etc is mentalness esp at that speed
It was the Two junctions on the right, that caught my attention. Anything coming out of them, would have been in for a surprise.

Fair play to the Citroen driver. She/he could have seriously impeded the Merc’s progress.

I wonder how they identified the driver of the black car.

Did the regitered keeper admit being the driver when ploddy knocked on the door!

Fail to Identify the driver 6 points and £1000 max v Dangerous driving!

"as the registered keeper of the black merc registration.... you are required to say who was driving".

"No comment"

Thanks, Maestro!*

I would prefer a sentencing policy that said no prison but .... enormofine, loadsa community service, and a five year driving ban.

* Not an Austin one.

Wrong side of road, at that speed, by shopping parade with parked cars and hidden pedestrians.
Top end of seriousness and outcome may not be related. Sheer lunacy.

From: https://www.sunderlandecho.com/news/crime/see-mome...

"Crop-haired Lee could now be jailed for up to three months, after magistrates requested a custody band report."

What has his haircut got to do with anything?

If he'd had longer hair would he have driven slower?

confused

That's what a journalist would call adding a bit of colour - the reference to the hairdo is there to further the impression that the driver is indeed a bit (a lot) of a hoolie.

I did wonder if it might be a really cr4p nickname - It is up around Sunderland after all! hehe

So a handy tip is:

If you don't want to look like someone who would speed dangerously, wear your hair like this:

"I beg your pardon?.......Speeding?........Moi?........Do I really look like the sort of person who would carry out such an uncouth action?........I think not!"

hehe

Well, it worked for Jason King. Speaking for myself, as a mere oik, I attempt at all times to emulate a floppy haired posh boy, but I always get found out and have to go round to the Tradesman's Entrance.

The problem is it can and will lead to people sending in footage of every single offence out there and the police having less need to police. Some - as they do already - will actively try to provoke an action they can then take to the police.

To me the best compromise is if you are Jesus - that is you never, ever speed or cross stop lines, park badly etc etc - then by all means send your footage in.

If you are not, then don't.

Sorted.
