Well, it worked for Jason King. Speaking for myself, as a mere oik, I attempt at all times to emulate a floppy haired posh boy, but I always get found out and have to go round to the Tradesman's Entrance.
The less that's said about posh Eton types and the "Tradesman's Entrance" the better!

The problem is it can and will lead to people sending in footage of every single offence out there and the police having less need to police. Some - as they do already - will actively try to provoke an action they can then take to the police.

To me the best compromise is if you are Jesus - that is you never, ever speed or cross stop lines, park badly etc etc - then by all means send your footage in.

If you are not, then don't.

Sorted.
I agree with that. Dashcam dob-in culture is a tad depressing, albeit that in this particular instance the dob-in was well merited.

"Crop-haired Lee could now be jailed for up to three months, after magistrates requested a custody band report."

What has his haircut got to do with anything?

If he'd had longer hair would he have driven slower?

Mum of three, grandad, single mum etc: it is the vernacular of the lower end of journalism.

It was more fun back in the day, when you used to get coded messages such as "bachelor", "scout master" and "Nightclub hostess" in the local crime and mayhem reports.

What makes you think that the Police won't filter what they do decide to deal with or NFA?
Policing includes screening/investigating offences however they come to light, it doesn't include prosecuting every offence that comes to light.

People witnessing offences also have different lines of acceptability & just because they'll report one thing that falls outside their own lines & is something they wouldn't do, they won't report another matter that they might do themselves.
Not many would view what that driver was doing as within their own lines of acceptability, but there will still be some who do.

If you were driving a 3ltr Capri also through Sunderland I may have been in the passenger seat !
A much younger Buster got done for speeding on the very same road on a motorcycle 44 years ago , Plod pulled me over in my defence I clearly stated to the said policeman I was bang on the limit and never went over 40 mph , to which he replied it’s a 30 mph limit son.

Easiest pull he ever had.

And "confirmed bachelor" was even more damning!

We raced through Sunderland like morons , we were young and stupid , in a 3ltr Capri completely oblivious to the cop behind us . On pulling into the " roker hotel " we thought we were the dogs bks with everyone inside looking at us . We quickly realised they were looking at the cop who'd just blocked us in and we ended up on the receiving end of a proper good old fashioned copper bking but he did let us off .
Needless to say we drove away sensibly after the telling off to save face !

I knew someone who raced down Sea Road except he drove straight into the roundabout without trying to get round it, it was a Capri as well.

It wasn’t me...

What I don’t get about that footage really is that doing that speed on that road is flat out suicidal. I can’t see how it can be enjoyable or exhilarating, unless you just genuinely want to kill yourself or someone else.

I just don’t understand it on a fundamental level, even from a speed freak point of view.

I remember the nights at Sunderland docks....especially the night the blue R5 GT Turbo crashed into the roundabout while outpacing a certain Power Engineering 1.9 XR3i belonging to......er, right well. that's enough reminiscing!

ISTR within the last few weeks reading a poster here arguing (seriously) that there should be no speed limits anywhere. I wonder what that poster would think about this incident.
To me it appears that if anything the manic proves the speed limit here isn't working!

You don't need a 30 limit to know doing over a ton down a highstreet is a dick move!
