I was also told they were stopping people at a local woods to enforce a 1 hour limit at the weekend, although that is hearsay, not as if merseyside police have form for making it up as they go along.
Nothing they did would shock me now, but that is particularly amusing/bad.
Presumably if you take a fancy to a spot of housebreaking round about now, Liverpool would be the place to do it. Provided you live within an hours brisk walk of your victim.

Derbyshire police issued FPN to couple who were 'out for a drive' in the snow from Leicester to Stoke. But then, they had crashed, requiring the attendance of police and doctor cars and a fire engine.... frown

All they had to say is they were driving somewhere to go for a walk and the police couldn't do anything. Stupidity deserves fining.

Quite a few hints/leaks in the press today about opening primary schools & easing some restrictions etc mid-February. What's the betting recreational driving will be allowed?

Ah, but you'll crash, and take up valuable NHS and emergency services resources, you selfish, inconsiderate driver.
Trying to be sarcastic and witty but actually stating a very good reason not to go just 'go for a drive'!

If you don't go for a drive there 0% chance of crashing and using up valuable NHS/Police/Fire Service resources.

Just grow up, take some responsibility and walk/cycle/run if you want to get out the house for an hour.

I wonder whether driving or cycling is most likely to lead to A and E? If keeping away from hospitals is your aim I think I would stick to walking.

You know what, don't exercise at all - runners end up with all sorts of problems too.

Sit on your sofa and be a good lazy consumer watching hours of st TV to numb your brain instead.

Good point. Make sure you have the fridge in reach, a handy bucket, and don't lose the remote, and you won't need to move at all.

Then become obese and then be a strain on the NHS, you can roll this argument out for anything really.

But i’ve run for 40+ years, Including every single day last year
I’m also in a running club
I’ve never known any runner with ‘all sorts of problems’ !

Get out there, nothing else to do wink

You must be bloody miles away by now.

I have. Me and Lady Balfour included. Neither of us can run anymore.

I know lots and lots of runners and don't know one that hasn't had running-related problems.

Noted. I consider myself suitably chastised.

You seem to be a fortunate bunch.

I’ve had a few falls and twisted ankles, one requiring a hospital visit because I ripped a ligament and bit of bone off.
I can’t think of any of my friends who run who haven’t had a fall or running related injury. A couple requiring A&E trips.
My father in law (world class athlete) had to retire from competition because his knees are borked and had to have surgery.
But then again we are all competitors and or cross country runners, so a bit more prone to mishap than plod around the block sorts.

BBC said:
Two women who were rescued from Ben Lomond have been charged with breaching coronavirus regulations.

The walkers, who were in their 20s and from Fife, called for help after getting into difficulty in poor weather at about 14:00 on Saturday.

Lomond Mountain Rescue Team said the women were near the summit of the Stirlingshire peak when they raised the alarm.

They were helped to walk off the hill and were not injured.

Police Scotland said the women were charged in connection with culpable and reckless conduct.

Under current restrictions, people who live in mainland Scotland are only permitted to leave their home or garden for an essential purpose such as work, exercise or essential shopping.

It is permitted to leave home for exercise which starts and finishes at the same place, which can be up to five miles from the boundary of your local authority area.
The restrictions may seem harsh, but at least you know exactly where you stand.

Does the legislation define exercise as 'one continuous period only'?

Otherwise, I could see reason to argue that a 100 mile circular walk with wild camping over a long weekend would still constitute as 'exercise'...

Most people will see right through that as an obvious attempt to badly misinterpreting the rule.
