My friend has a sales website in the VW world and he does get a lot of people claim that they did not receive the goods, Paypal find in the buyers favour even when he provides a signature to say the parcel was signed for, the buyer says "that is not my signature"
Some couriers now take photos on delivery. However the way paypal and ebay work means they will likely still rule in the buyers favour. And then there is the high likely hood they will leave negative feedback because they couldn't get away defrauding you. And as a seller you can do nothing about negative feedback.

I just had a negative feedback because the buyer doesn't like deliveries by Royal Mail, despite it saying in the ad that I was sending by Royal Mail and despite it arriving within the stated timescalesI appealed it on ebay - rejected as it doesn't break ebay rules

I would think these types of items are either stolen or fakes.
Teh number of mid range to high end guitars I see being sold on social media as "unwanted Christmas presents" is crazy at times.I need me one of those Aunts that buys custom shop Strats for their nephews for christmas.

It is odd that it can be so blatant. I guess the names of the sellers could be fake or they don’t care as they rarely get caught. You would imagine police could arrange to buy and then simply raid them.
My experience from a couple of years back is the Police don't care.I had a new credit card and used it once to pay for a Sky upgrade whilst I was at work..I was a bit reticent to just provide details over the phone but thought 'I'm just being paranoid'.
Two days later I get a call from my credit card company asking If i'd ordered 15 pairs of Ray Bans.
Turns out the criminal mastermind had them sent to his home address!.
Sky suspended the guy and wanted to prosecute but the police wouldn't get involved, even when I called them their rationale was that I had got the money back from the cc company so stoo comlaining!.
In the end Sky couldn't keep him suspended so fired him..he's probably doing the same elsewhere.
I’ve had things previously that I got a bargain on bought to resell -
like an oversized last on the peg jacket, bought it stuck it on eBay under retail price and sold it.
Or I used to have a mate that got free branded work wear every year regardless of wear used to get his brand new throwaways.
I’ve got some motorbike gear with tags on to old to send back but I’ve not worn it yet I might be too fat to wear when I try them - would be sold as new.
I could hardly say yeh I got it for free and I’m gonna selling it.

I thought the same when I was looking for a push bike last summer - the amount of adverts from blokes in West Bromwich or Birmingham who had seven different bikes for sale was almost comical and also as mentioned, when pushed for things like proof of purchase, they could get pretty stroppy or remember that the thing had literally just sold. I've come to the conclusion that Ebay and it's ilk are now just a replacement of the situation that used to be the case back in the day when I was in Derbyshire. Anyone suffering a shed/garage/workshop/van break could go down early next Sunday morning to the car boot at Tansley and have a reasonable chance of finding their stuff. Failing that the second hand tools stall on Tuesday in Chesterfield market square. Nearly new mowers, sometimes even marked up with an owner's postcode, other gardening kit, tools, fishing tackle galore. Clearly nicked and imo priced accordingly. Three minutes gentle walk from Beetwell St nick.
