Currently parked in a motorway service station. According to the notice I’m allowed a maximum of 2hrs due to number plate ANPR recognition. Does anyone know if they allow returns? I’ve asked the lady in WH Smith who said your allowed 2hr within 24hrs which I don’t believe. No signs in car park mention returns but I’d rather not have the hassle of dealing with a parking fine.

Anyone have experience on this? Thank you.

I’m on call for work so could do with a trip around the roundabout and back in. So same service station and back in 2 mins later.

Clue: they don’t want people using the car park but not spending money.

Is there a phone number on any signs.
To be honest I think you are pushing it a bit

You could always wing it.

If you get a fine, hide it on your work expenses.

Sadly doesn’t work like that but I like your idea.

What makes you disbelieve the woman in WH Smiths but willing to believe anonymous people on the internet?

Probably because it's 'a woman'.

Not the case at all. The signs do not say anything of the sort in the car park.

The rule is - it's a private parking company - they are universally scumbags so assume the worst.

I remember my constant hassles with a parking company. I would drop Vikingette1 at gymnastics at 8am, leave 60 seconds later, return at 5pm to collect her and a few days later a lovely "fake invoice" would arrive from the parking company saying I overstayed the 2 hour limit.

As above really, if you're not following the pattern of a normal, paying customer, then expect a 'ticket'

Is there really nowhere else you can park ?

Absolute best case you'd need a reasonable gap between entries - again, consistent with normal behaviour - and even then, I'd ensure you buy something & keep the receipts.

I'd believe the WHS lady - 24 hours is likely the default, with an exception process for two visits in that period, but TBH private parking companies are an absolute PITA and you will spend more time fighting it than it's worth. Just park somewhere else.

Lucky not to have been "double dipped" then

It's not good to judge others by your own standards.

Just cover your number plate when you leave. Wet wipes or anti bac wipes work a treat

That sign doesn't say anything about no return within two hours. Just a maximum 2hr stay. What does other signage say ?

I’m guessing the OP doesn’t ant to pay. Ie he wants to park for 2 hours, go for a drive around the block, come back and park for another 2 hours.
