Hello All

Had some great answers before from here so thought I'd try my luck again....

Currently travelling and have left the car in Stansted short stay. I've booked it until August 12. Now I need to stay away longer and I had assumed I could just book from August 12 at the same time and extend the time by purchasing an additional booking in the usual way online.

Now I'm getting a bit worried as I read their terms&conditions and it says they charge £60 per day for excess parking. So even if I buy a second booking they might still say I've overstayed my first booking and charge me £840 for a 2 week extension? I'd nearly be better off giving them the car rofl

I tried to call them but they say "due to covid" nobody is picking up the phone so need to write an email which I have and no reply so far.

So could they sting me like that? Or would the car be covered? And if they do try to force me to pay a big sum, can they withhold my car until I pay ?

Assuming they’re not going to be very helpful is there a spare set of keys and someone who could move it to another car park?

£840.
How much is the return flight from where your staying?
Fly back move the car and jump on the next flight back. As long as you are not in a covid country.

When it has happened to me a couple times at Heathrow, I've just called the booking office and got them to extend my booking.

I had a flight cancelled a few years ago due to snow at stansted.

Came back and they charged me one extra day, quite right too and charged me the correct rate. ie pro rata 14 day rate rather than higher single day rate

Hope they get back to you.

I’ve had a situation where I’d pre booked and arrived at the exit barrier with an £800 bill at Gatwick as the online booking didn’t pick up at entry so paid the full fat short stay. I suspect the computer will assume you’ve overstayed on the first booking and not recognise the 2nd one as you never triggered the camera on entry for the start date.

If you book the additional parking online and you’ve got the email as the phone isn’t being answered then just pop into the car park office at the exit. If you show you’ve booked for the days they’ll just let you out via the barrier.

EDIT: I think Stansted Parking is same company that runs Gatwick so maybe give Gatwick a call.

It’s called Not Having Enough Staff, due to absence in the real world.

Unless you live at the center of the universe?
