Most Honda jazz’s and people carriers, they also struggle to run in lane one of the motorway even when it’s empty.

Hmm. That's the drivers, not the cars. I know my mum's old Picasso was more than capable of cruising at 90 smile Giving it an Italian tune occasionally was good for it.

Careful you don’t cut your self on that sharp edge.

Our SMax will do 140mph - we’re the ones you’ve seen broken?

Community speedwatch in the village today. Sometimes having it limited to 30mph is not a bad thing.

I thought i read that if you held the accelerator down it would bypass the limit e.g. in-case of emergency.

Speed limiter in my car foot to the floor does nothing regardless of how long you hold it down. Rather you have to cancel it by the hand stalk.

But you will also be limited to 20 in a 20 zone.
Problem is the cars can't always work out what the limit is.
Driving round a major town yesterday in southern England, the Fiesta (2019 model) thought a 40 was a 60; it's been 40 for a long time there. There is also a 40 that's been temporarily wiped out down to 30, and the Fiesta still thinks it's 40.
yes

The worst bit will be the car slowing down when it doesn't need to if the system doesn't have the correct limits built in. Think of the grief you will get from following drivers.

Better get prepared for more road rage and headlight flashing.
And where does it say any of that, just the sort of people they want to get to, clickbait believers who embelish the story a little bit with each telling until it bares no resembelance to the original
Oh yea of little faith.

Speed cameras will become a thing of the past, you will be receiving fines for speeding, parking and other driving infringements automatically generated from the systems built into your car.

The next step will be disabling your car remotely if you are doing anything considered to be anti social or law breaking.

We are facing a whole new world of motoring pain in the next 20 years or so, enjoy it now while you can smile

Speed limiters are dangerous in themselves...I mean, I nearly crashed when the speed limit alarm sounded as I approached a bend at 100mph (had only set it at 100mph as a reminder not to go too fast, and had forgotten about it for about a year as I'd been nowhere near).

In my daily driver, the throttle pedal give a bit of push back when the limit you've set (or the limit it sees) is reached.

They are mandatory to be installed, not mandatory to be used. You can turn it off.

Oh yea of little sense, get back in the real world, instead of Area 51 or wherever you reside. You’ll be blaming it all the COVID vaccine next

Number of times I'm on an NSL flyover over a 30 limited urban area and my sat nav is having kittens.

How is that going to work?

Apparently the regulations allow for the speed limiter to be switched off, so just like start/stop it will just be another button/menu to disable before setting off. Annoying but not the end of the world.

It's OK to be able to switch it off... but will the audible warning be silenced if you do so...?!

The Netherlands has already reduced their speed limits nationally to 100kmh during the daytime, Germany is unlikely to continue unrestricted autobahn use since the continued flooding and deaths etc.
I expect the UK limits will be reduced to 55mph in the next 10 to 15 years and diesel/petrol to be forced off the road through massive taxation.
At least at those speeds, electric will probably have a large enough range for most requirements.

Will these speed limiters be extended to bike riding cyclists ?

would be good to extend this technology to 'red light jumpers' and amber light control.

Good news, no longer need to worry about speed limits, just foot to the floor all day and let the electronics sort it out.

However, many cars have a top speed of over 70 mph
Many? I'd wager close to 100%
May not be relevant but my series land rover would love to reach 70 mph smile

Because the Dutch PM is a fking moron! 80% of global travel shut down last year for weeks, yet the CO2 level continued to do what it's been doing for years - slowly rose... rolleyes
