"Mike Cox parked several vehicles, including a caravan and a McLaren, outside the Cardiff garage, claiming the company "failed to fix his car"".

Come on Mike Cox - McClaren owner, director of multiple businesses - you must be on PH, you're letting the team down, no cans of red bull / frozen sausages etc [insert other PH clichés].

(as an aside, great company name, JSM Contracting, lol jism]

Hmm I wonder who could possibly own a white range rover, a caravan & an old van with a cage on the back....

Bought as 'nearly new'

Now 4 years old...

'problems from the outset' rolleyes

Bought a 'top of the range' 'all inclusive' warranty 6 weeks ago for £2500 yikes

'issue' not covered by said warranty hehe

If only he's come on here when the issue first arose we would have steered him in the right direction... judge

Fair play to him for kicking up a stink but it's a lesson about cars that develop faults... Give the dealer one chance and one chace only to fix and then reject - otherwise you will likely disappear down the same rabbit hole this chap has.

I suspect there is a long and sorry story leading to this point. These things are never clear cut and 8 year old Range Rovers are rarely lauded as the height of reliability.

Also I have a feeling that the actual warranty provider is unlikely to be the dealer - I did raise an eyebrow at the warranty cost. Wonder if he's bought the warranty, thinking it would cover a pre-existing fault.

I'm in favour of some direct action but the story says he's been hit with an injunction requiring him to move. I expect that will be accompanied with an order to pay their legal costs so it may prove to be an expensive exercise for him. He says he will just block another site in the dealer's network but all they will do is get another injunction, potentially accompanied by a penal notice. Breach that, and it's off to jail do not pass go...

In all fairness the spelling and grammar is good on the wrap.

Also, he has a point if they are saying his car is too old when the extended warranty say 10years/100k - at time of purchase.

Yes, I also noticed that the wrap was spelt correctly, even the appropriate "their" and proper use of apostrophes.

Warranties always have exclusions though. The proper approach would be to sue them for breach of contract. No idea if he is also doing this in the background but his direct approach is unlikely to get him any further.

I do feel for him. My boss has had an awful time with his Velar and it has just had a new engine, thankfully under warranty. Even so, it's really not good enough for what is supposed to be a premium brand.

.
His version of events seems to be not so much about exclusions, but rather that they happily sold the warranty to him but then when he came to claim on it they said that it's not valid as it shouldn't have been to sold to him for some reason, perhaps realted to the car's age.

His version as I say, but it does sound rather a weak position for the dealer to be in.

Perhaps the dealer is claiming it's an issue similar to when retailers mis-price things and so are no obliged to honour the sale

You forgot the McLaren with the chav wrap.

I wonder perhaps if this fella is a member of mobile tarmac laying company which also does a bit of roofing and fly tipping?
I wonder if HMRC will be interested in how he can afford all these vehicles.

He's had it 4yrs, and looks like it was 4yrs old when he bought. He's done oddly little mileage in it.

He can't move it anyway - MOT has expired!

Dealerships are stupid letting these sort of complaints get this far. Now everyone is aware. A quiet conversation, do a refund or swap vehicles, a number of ways to get a happy customer. It didn’t just escalate from a problem straight to this.

Hopefully Mr Cox is a PHer and will pop up on the thread soon to give us all the gory details and we'll have another 100 pager a la the detonated Honda of which we're all very fond

Good on him, he should be applauded. I threatened to do the same to a BMW dealership a good few years ago due to a brand new car being so unreliable. Thankfully they came to their senses and swapped the car

I was in a Ford dealer some years ago and a woman sat down in service reception and quietly said she woulld stay there until the issue with her car was sorted. They called the police!

That reduces the likelihood of him being a PHer, then.

Didn't this kind of thing happen a few years back? My brain's telling me there was a similar picture with a FFRR parked on a bank outside a dealership in exactly the same protest - except think that was a dark coloured one.
