Minor matters don't go away though. Shoe on the other foot, you have made a complaint about something, chase them for updates and ask why they haven't progressed your complaint. He will likely have many other enquiries ongoing in-between attending calls. I do agree with contact details though, he could have at least done that.
Midnight knock - non urgent - no justification.
If ive made a complaint - theyll have my phone / text / email details.
Be interesting to find out what the call was for when the OP is finally contacted

I’ll definitely keep you all posted, I’ll let them say their piece and then I’ll be bringing up my dissatisfaction with the process.

You wouldn't believe it if you knew the truth...

Worked out the other night we had 1 ambulance per 72500 people in the area.
Just had a friend sent to a job 40 miles away as they are the closest unit. Rest of the area are on their way to a domestic where the suspect always fights and is violent. If they need more back up we are the closest free unit…65 miles away.

It's borderline negligent tbh

I’ve been through the local hospital after an accident over the last year and am staggered at how much police time is wasted on drugged/drinker up idiots.

How they and the staff cope I have no idea.

Anyone who works in any of the services has my utmost respect. I had no idea how bad it was until I saw it.

It is when other officers seem to have the time to knock on doors at 12am for no discernible reason.

What I'm saying is if you made a complaint, and part of the enquiry was to speak to the OP, then it needs done. I'm sure you would be on the phone complaining asking why they haven't concluded their enquiries.

IMO being woken at 2354hrs isn't that outrageous, not like it is the middle of the night. I do find it odd that the OP's wife wouldn't have a peek out the curtains and answer the door on seeing it was the police.

After recent incidents with women and police I can think of a few. The damage done is almost irreversible.

Police in Scotland don't go about on their own, so would have been 2 of them. With that mentality you bettet not answer the door to anyone then, just in-case....

It could have been two people pretending to be police. I would be concerned about answering it let alone my wife especially if she's on her own.

tbh its disgraceful, you have to your knowledge done nothing wrong yet the police are banging on your door at midnight and then will take a week to get back to you. Thats not acceptable imo and i would be equally as worried and also pissed off.

With increased reporting around officers being charged for violence and sex offences against women, two officers would seem like a greater threat to some women. It’s not my mentality that has to change, it’s the police.

I’ve no axe to grind with police but these are the reasons that some women don’t trust them.

Use some common sense. It'll be a marked car outside, 2 cops with all the gear etc. Ask them to see their warrant card if you are really that paranoid. Again, better not answer the next delivery you get, the Amazon guy might be a imposter.

I'm gonna guess the OP is being accused of something minor - like a complaint re driving. Just my thoughts.

I doubt the police would say “Yeah, it’s something extremely serious and you’d better consider fleeing the country, otherwise you’re looking at 15 years to life”.

They always seem to gently introduce you to how serious an incident is, slowly build up evidence, gradually grind you down… but the OP is probably ok wink

It's frightening how under resourced our emergency services are, especially the police and ambulance. It's actually outrageous. This may have been the only time he had to chap your door, albeit for a minor matter.
And yet...

I had an Inspector who claimed that he went to a notorious house in Liverpool, to be greeted by 'fk off unless you've got a warrant', from a man conversing, if you can call it that, from an upstairs window.

Having been refused entry for some time, he told the man bluntly, in 4 words, that his son had died in an RTA.

At which point the man fell out of the window.

I have no reason to doubt him.

Women tend to think rather differently than men with regards to safety in the presence of a man, especially in the dark at night.
