That's because If the Tax is due near a bank holiday I go to the Post Office The Saturday before.

Mine didn't arrive last year, I applied via the internet 10 days before expiry as well, after much angst and passing of numbers over the phone.......I ended up going to collect a new disc on the day it expired from the local DVLA office, I had to queue with 50 other folks and didn't get a fastrack to collect my disc even though they had got my money 10 days previous.....stop the tax and put it on fuel.....Oh but they already have.....

Pffft! I sent my driving licence away over 2 months ago for the privilege of paying DVLA £20 to change my photo because it had 'run out'. I've still not got it back and when I telephone they tell me there is a 'bit of a backlog'. A bit? Lucky they've got all these £20s coming in then to pay for extra staff.

As an update, tax has now run out, disc still hasn't arrived after 14 days!

Phoned DVLA and the guy there was actually pretty helpful, gave me 3 options; get it sent first class (3 - 5 days), get it sent next day recorded (someone would need to sign for it) or collect it in person 10 mins round the corner between 9 - 5.

He also confirmed that Im legally sound untill 7th Sept and even after that date shouldn't get clamped as its a police matter wrt failing to display.

So I'll be collecting tomorrow morning as I don't trust that it will arrive.

You must have been unlucky, I noticed this thread after having applying on-line for the first time, and thought-oh st-.

But mine arrived in yesterdays post.
