I've not said it doesn't happen. From what I've seen most officers have a very low opinion of the techniques operated by clampers - and aren't shy about nicking them (as I've stated in my original post.) Proving beyond all reasonable doubt that they've committed a criminal offence is the hard part (but then isn't it always?)

The second story is a sad example of how pathetic the authorities in this country are at actually doing what we pay our taxes for...of course that is until they have personal motivation.

Looks like the SIA is going too.

It is a valid vat number, assocciated with Barclays Bank, E14 5HP.
