Two of my previous Corvettes, a C5 coupe and a C5 Z06 both went to France.
Neither had a COC for them.
If you have one then i can't see a problem.

Hi Black ZeD
Thanks for the post, did you ever catch the thieves smile
I've heard of horror stories getting vehicles through the process, and being a US spec. car, was wondering if there would be problems? I obviously will get the IVA, I plan to use 'shipmycar' and I'm close to Felixstowe, so will be able to get it into the UK reasonably easily.

What if anthing did you have to get done to the vettes to get the paperwork for them to be legal in France if you wouldn't mind telling me?

Hi Kevin
Importing a US spec GS into France could be expensive or very expensive.
It must have an official European COC - nothing else will be accepted.
If you have that, it is relatively straight forward:
1) French mot €55
2) Regional registration tax calculated on the fiscal cv which for a GS is 37cv x €44 per cv = €1628
3) Malu (eco) tax which reduces by 10% for every complete year from the original date of manufacture = €10,000
4) Annual eco tax €160

If you don't have a European COC then you will still have all the above plus have to submit the car to for a DRIRE inspection. They will tell you what needs to be changed to meet EU/French requirements and the car must be all oem. There are specialists in France who do this. The quote I had for a C5 Z06 was €6,000.

Hi Forum, now to the site. I am planning to import a US built 2017 grand sport to the UK after having toured the US. I am OK for taxes and duties, but here's the complicated bit, after some time I want to take it to France and register it there. I can get a COC (certificate of conformity) from the EPA in the US.
Anyone know if I'll get any difficulty getting it registered and plates in France. I have tried to find if the US build conforms with EU standards, but have hit a wall...........not literally.

Any advice would be appreciated
Before you go any further, how can you get a CoC for a US built car as it simply won't meet Euro homologation?

You have said you need an IVA, but this is not needed with a CoC.

You need to check this.

Thanks for the input guys. So it seems to me the best way is to get the car into the UK, then just keep it on UK plates and use it occasionally over in France as a tourist?
I'm starting to see that things are all sewn up to stop personal imports being taken over there. So, I'm assuming that UK/Europe build cars have higher specs than the US build ones? Surely it would have been more cost effective to have one standard?

I'm sorry, but I can't see the connection between a CoC and Sat Nav - is there one?
