im not over enthused with the new vette but BOP has killed the C7R in imsa, its just a "lets help the porsche win" series now, chevrolet had to to change, also the new cat 6 laws have banned the c7 from europe,at least it will help values of c7,s already here for a while as the c8 will appeal more to non vette enthusiasts due to its euro/jap design, cant wait for the C8R to start kicking ass in imsa that is until they BOP that to death for being too successful like the c7

I can't wait for the the C8 to hit the UK shores, since selling my V8 Esprit I have tried a few mid engined cars and have been left cold by lack involvement or something I can't quite put my finger on, others have had ridiculous servicing costs that has really put me off. Having spoken to Kevin at a well known dealership and having seen the various pre launch videos I rather think this car will hit the spot. Hopefully before long someone like Chris Harris will get to test drive one which will help my decision. Meantime I'll continue to enjoy my current N/A V8 engined RCF until 2021 when the UK should get them.

Saw the C8 in the flesh at Road America during the IMSA weekend.

The C8 looks great and will be a success. The lack of 3 pedals is a major disappointment. No doubt the automatic is faster by tenths of a second, but the manual transmission is so much more engaging.

Looking at the C7's in the Corvette Coral at Road America, I would say 40% had the 7 speed manual.

I hope GM changes their line of thinking and offers the 7 speed manual to reach out to the enthusiast community.

Automatic would suit me - maybe replace my Mustang in 2021 with the C8

Who here doesn't adore rowing their own in a powerful car like Corvette. So most of us agree in principle with your sentiment. smile

On the other hand, Chevrolet have been unequivocal that the C8 will never have a traditional manual transmission.

Indeed, by opting for only one transmission -- the self-shifting intelligent dual-clutch unit -- Chevrolet have shaved millions off the cost of the C8 programme. This cost savings was cited by Chevrolet as leading to lower RRPs on the forecourt (an attribute which, as we all know, is key to the Corvette proposition).

Furthermore, Chevrolet explained that none of the blue-chip suppliers (of transmissions) felt that they were up to the task of providing a manual unit within the quality and cost parameters that would be required.

Most of the preceding are explained in detail in the large C8 thread in the General Gassing section of PH.
