Ive been looking through all the old threads about importing yanks from the US to the UK but Ive still a couple of questions if anyone knows.

Do early - mid 80s GM type rectangular headlights (The paired ones) need to get changed or will they pass an MOT as they are? Ive heard they are usually flat beam patterns. Are they? Is that good enough for a MOT pass?

Reason I'm asking is that the car I'm looking is a 1985 and already has amber indicators but It will need a fog light as post 1980 but will not need hazards or side repeater indicators as pre 1986.

Is there anything else that needs to be done to the lights?

Ive had some quotes from the shippers, some of which also offer to do all the electrical work for the MOT to register once its landed here but charge £500+ for this and I'm wondering if all i will need to do for a MOT is add a fog light, i could manage this myself and save ALOT of money.

Edit: one of the quotes is £745 for “modifications and uk homologation”.

Am i missing anything else?

These type of lights ??

Most are a flat dip beam, although I can't remember if those rectangular ones are, of not they should be available in left hand dip as 3rd generation Camaros were sold here new in the early 80's. As you say it's then just a case of adding a rear fog light, you will also need to separate the brake & rear turn signals plus white front side/parking lights.

For the rear fog light I used modern Switchback LED bulbs within the reverse light housing: https://sharplightinnovations.com/shop?olsPage=pro...
